UberGizmo were lucky enough to get their hands on a Pharos GPS 600 for review. The phone features a 2.8 inch display, has a matte aluminium finish and is powered by Windows Mobile 5. As the title of the phone suggests, GPS is built in in the way of a SiRFStarIII chip and the Pharos software called Ostia utilizes this very well. Integrated GPS is finding it’s way on to a few phones these days and it is very welcome as having this in your phone means that it’s less to carry and more functionality in your pocket. Connectivity is not lacking either and GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and Wifi are all built in providing some very nice access to the internet from any location. Unfortunatly this is not a 3G phone though. With a nice array of features this mobile/gps device is well worth checking out when it arrives in the shops next month. For the full review, check out UberGizmo.

Nokia Explore Concept
Nokia has created the Explore concept which uses a community type set up. The idea behind this is that you share your discoveries with a community from the world.
The short video below is just one in a series of videos created by Nokia which show how mobile phones might change over the next few years. None of the phones are real (quite obvious when you see the video) but do show what Nokia’s vision is and where it wants to go.

Takara Tomy Omnibot – i-SOBOT
It has been a while since we wrote about a robot and so I thought I best do that just today 🙂 The Omnibot stands 6.6 inches tall and comes kitted out with a remote control with built in LCD display. The remote control is used to program the robot, and allow for voice control to tell it what to do. As well as following your commands it can play music, dance and respond to various noises such as clapping and other actions. An even newer version is also due out which has a built in camera and coupled with wifi, the pictures of it’s location can be sent to a nearby PC. All sounds cool and good fun and will be available soon in Japan.

Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9 – Thin Slider
In a world where thin screens, laptops, tv’s and phones are the rage it makes you wonder how thin they are going to get before they either roll up in your pocket, or break in to a hundred peices in your pocket. The Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9 is the latest slider phone which is very slim. It’s currently 10.9mm thin and knocks the D900 off the world thinnest slider top spot. What we do like about this is the 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 and video playback, bluetooth, video output and quite a generous 80Mb or memory. The memory can be increased via a microSD card slot.

Oops – I forgot to turn the oven on
If you have ever forgotten to turn the oven on, or off and realise when you are no where near home then this oven is for you! The TMIO Intelligent Oven is a smart oven which can be controlled by the internet, PDA or mobile phone and allows you to send a message to it and tell it to switch on, off and do what ever you want. Of course you will need to prepare the food before hand and put it in there ready for cooking… but it is a nice addition to your kitchen should you need to wait back for a meeting and want the food cooking later in the day rather then when you thought you would be home.
If only it could do your shopping and make the food for you 🙂

LG SH110 Slider
LG’s latest multimedia slider is another cool looking phone and one not to be passed. It features a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WCDMA, HSDPA and MP3 capabilities. By having HSDPA capabilities this allows you to surf the internet at a nice 1.8mbps which is more then enough currently for a mobile phone and will open up more possibilities for smooth streaming of audio and video. With having 2 cameras built in you can use the front facing camera for video calls.

XBpx 360 Motion Sensors
We know that the Wii has tilt sensors in a number of axis in it’s controller which has opened up a cool generation of games. The XBox 360 does not have this feature built in, but some clever bloke at XBox Scene decided to make a custom tilt sensor which takes over one of the analogue joysticks. The custom built solution works by outputting varying voltages according to how far, fast you tilt the joypad. It has a 3 axis accelerometer. With the use of some micro electronics the analogue voltages are converted to digital to determine how far the joypad is tilted and then interpreted and sent to the XBox. Sounds cool and is a great idea if you want to hack up your controller.
