Sony Playstation 3 HD Troubles

Sony Playstation 3
New information has come to light today when we found out that older HDTV’s are not currently compatible with the Sony Playstation 3. The PS3 is currently capable of running 1080p and 720p but not 1080i. What happens is that it scales down all the way to 480p which is not really HD. IGN came across this issue which was on 4 games they have tested (Resistance: Fall of Man, Need for Speed Carbon, NHL 2K7 and Tiger Woods 2007).

As we all know, the PS3 can have firmware updates downloaded to it which means a fix should be possible and it wont be anything too drastic to worry about.

iRivers 4Gb Clix On its Way

Clix 4Gb
iRiver are launching the 4Gb Clix which is supposidly just around the corner and will sell for around 200 dollars. The 2Gb Clix is a nice player on the market and boasts some nice features. The 2Gb Clix can play music, video’s and photo’s. It has a 2.2 inch colour display, built in FM tuner, can play games although I would imagine these are downloaded from iRivers site, it has a voice recorder and boasts 25 hours of battery life. No doubt the 4Gb version will built up on this list and hopefully with some more features too.

Skype Wi-Fi Phone Package

Skype Wifi
Skype and Fon have teamed up to sell the SMC WSKP100 Skype wifi phone with Fon’s La Fonera router. The deal comes in at 160 dollars and includes 500 SkypeOut minutes and voice mail for a year.

The pricing looks good as the handset alone can cost around 200 dollars. Currently it’s out of stock and I am not suprised. Id suggest getting your orders in now to make the calls.

The phone only supports wireless networks and not regular phone calls. The battery is a 1100mAh Lithium-ion battery which gives 3 hours of talk time and 50 hours of standby. It is 802.11b/g compliant, has WEP support in both 64 and 128bit encryption, it runs Skype software and the firmware is upgradeable. IP’s can be either static or dynamic with DHCP. It also supports your contact list to make calls easier.

The Pocket Viewer is aimed to help those with poor vision by magnifying text underneath it like a magnifying glass, but more in a hi tech way. The Pocket Viewer has a large 4 x 3 inch display and uses a digital camera underneath to read the text and then magnify it to put on the screen.

The device is about the size of a PDA and it costs a whopping 899 dollars.

Sling and Symbian SlingPlayer Partnership with 3

SlingPlayer Symbian
Sling has announced a parternership with 3 the mobile network. This will allow those of us in the UK to get the X-Series gear on December 1st. This idea is aimed to make mobile internet more useful to customers with out fear of data usage. This is personally one reason I do not use my mobile for browsing other then the free pages.

Currently the software is showing on the Nokia N73 (nice phone!) and the W950 from Sony.

Heated Mouse

Mouse Warmer
The heated mouse is an excellent idea which I could use in these cold parts of the year. Sometimes the heating still doesnt get the hands warm enough. Thanko have released the USB heated mouse but it will need to be imported. The heat function built in is optional which means in the summer months you do not have to use it. It will warm up to 45 degrees.

If this doesnt help then try out the Thanko Header Mouse Pad. The mouse sells for just 22 dollars and is powered by your USB port.

Wireless Air Guitar Shirt

Wireless Air Guitar Shirt
The wireless air guitar shirt is something different. It allows you to play music by waving your hands in a guitar fashion in front of the t-shirt. One hand can pick cords and the other can strum to imaginary music. Once this happens the music is sent direct to a near by PC wirelessly and played real time on the loud speakers. Video’s after the jump.
