We’ve seen quite a bit about Amazon in the last few days. The main story is about the Amazon Kindle Tablet that details were revealed about the other day.
iCloud is Powered by Amazon and Microsoft – Rumour
Over the weekend some details were revealed suggesting that Apple is using Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS services as the backend of the new iCloud service that is about to launch. The initial report says that Apple has barred both companies from discussing the deal.
Amazon Kindle Tablet Mockup
Last week more details of the Amazon Kindle tablet were revealed. The report came from TechCrunch who had apparently tested the device but were unable to post pictures of it. TechCrunch has now created a mockup of what the tablet might look like. In the previous report it was described as looking like a BlackBerry PlayBook. Take a look at the picture below:
Apple Fixture Installation at Best Buy Hints at iPhone 5 BB Release Date
A leaked shot of a Best Buy schedule has been found which shows that an “Apple Fixture Installation” will be happening on October 21 over at Best Buy. The installation will begin at 6am with the manager required to be onsite that morning. A typical installation, we have heard, does not require a manager to be there. Interestingly enough, the instructions also follow that of the iPhone 4 launch at Best Buy which could not be a hint as to when the iPhone 5 will be arriving, at Best Buy of course.
B&N Nook Color 2 Could Arrive this Month
Barnes & Noble are said to be preparing to launch the new Nook Color 2 this month. The new device is being manufactured by several companies in Taiwan as follows:
“TPK Holding will supply touch panels used in the e-bok reader, while Inventec will be responsible for the assembly, the sources said. Pegatron is also said to have received orders for Nook Color 2. It is reported that Inventec and Pegatron would be able to supply two to three million units of Nook Color 2 by the end of 2011.”
iPhone 5 Cases Show Hints at a Thinner Smartphone
Some pictures circulating today show suposed iPhone 5 cases that reveal the iPhone 5 will be slimmer but a fraction wider than current models. The case has been pictured with an iPhone 4 inside which stands out of the case by a few mm.
Google Nexus S Android 2.3.6 Android Update Released – Don’t Install
Google has released an OTA update for the Google Nexus S which is designed to fix a bug with the voice search functions of the device. The new Android release is 2.3.6 which Google has begun pushing out this weekend.
Amazon Kindle Tablet Details Leaked
There’s been a lot of talk about Amazon getting in to the Tablet game over the last few months. Most reports hint at both 7 and 10 inch devices that will perhaps fall in to the Kindle name and be a tablet version of the popular Kindle reading device. TechCrunch managed to take a look at the device and have revealed a few details of what it’s all about.
Sony Tablet S Up for Pre-Order in the UK
The Sony Tablet S is now available for pre-order here in the UK. It is set to launch on September 16th with a price tag starting at £399 for the lower spec model. The device actually went up for pre-order at 4:01pm a couple of days ago, so if you want one pre-ordering now then act quick.
The pre-order availability is an exclusive to the Dixons Group which means you’ll be able to pre-order from Currys, PC World or Dixons.co.uk ready for the launch on September 16.
Toshiba AT200 Excite will Measure 7.7mm Thick
Toshiba will soon launch a new tablet called the AT200. This new model is the next generation version of the original AT100. The new Toshiba tablet will have a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. It will run the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and be powered by a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor.
Final Cut Studio Goes Back on Sale at Apple
Apple has put the older version of Final Cut Studio back on sale due to what is believed to be a mixed reception to the new and redesigned version called Final Cut X. The older legacy version isn’t available through the App Store or online. Instead, you’ll need to call 800-MY-APPLE to get this version.
Foxconn to Make 20 Million iPad 2s In Third Quarter
Digitimes is reporting that Foxconn will be shipping about 20 million Apple iPad 2 models to Apple in the 3rd quarter of this year. This amount is more than double what it was for the previous quarter which was estimated at 9.25 million.
