This amaxing looking Sony Vaio UX50 is looking like an excellent mobile device. The UX50 runs Windows XP and currently in Japan has a 30Gb drive and powered by a 1.2Ghz processor. The device also includes 512Mb RAM.

Casio are launching the XJ-S35 projector. The device is has a rating of 2000 lumins and a 1800:1 contrast ratio. Also included is a USB 1.1 port for playing back images or MPEG 4’s or connecting a wifi adapter to steam video over.
What makes this ultra portable is that it weighs just 4lbs and is no more then 43mm thick! Not bad at all!
Selling for a hefty $2000 dollars is the new 64Gb SATS flash drive. This is a big step forwards in the storage world and transfers around 32MBs which is not bad at all.
Other good news is that it’s due out in August this year! No doubt it will be 1/8th of the price by this time next year… Me thinks I will be waiting a while before splashing out any cash on this.
A recent study shows that 44% of people use their mobile phone as their main camera. I can see with the introduction of even higher mega pixel cameras that they will one day totally take over.
The mobile phone is becoming a main point in most of our lives. They are used to time keep, as alarm clocks, more recently as MP3 players (especially with the launch of the Sony Walkman Phone).
This survey was performed by Nokia as the number of mobile phones across the world is aproaching 2.5 billion handsets. A crazy amount of phones in my opinion.
If mobile phone makers can add all the tools in to 1 device then I am all for this. On my phone I can watch TV, listen to MP3’s, send and receive emails, browse the internet at high speed and more. There is no doubt that mobiles are just going to continue pressing forwards heavily. Also I see wifi being integrated with the latest Nokia N range of phones as well as small hard drives in there also. A whole mine field of information will be available in your pocket from anywhere in the world.
I look forwards to what the future brings in the mobile phone industry!
The World Cup is set to be a testing ground for TV on mobile phones. I already see links on my Three phone offering to send me video clips of each goal right after it happens live.
I can see video on the move being very popluar with 3G services now being around.
Amongst the World Cup there are other shows being prepared for broadcast and the phone companies are expecting millions of users (more then 210 million even) will be watching TV on their mobiles by 2011. Not sure how they worked out that number and year but it shows that this could be big… in a small mobile kind of way 🙂
The wireless camera hunter is a video signal detector which can detect wireless video signals from 500ft away.
If there is a hidden wireless camera spying on you close by then switch this on and you can see on the 2.5″ LCD screen what the camera is looking at!

Here is a funny little toy from Firebox.com called Cube World. I guess it’s similar to Tamagotchi.
Cube World is a game where you have little pixelised stick men which live in a cube. You then connect one cube to another and you begin your cube world.
Basically each Cube World contains a little pixellated stick man who lives and plays inside. There are four characters to collect and each one has a different hobby: Slim plays with a stick, Dodger enjoys kicking his ball, Scoop interacts with his dog, and Whip is a dab hand at rope tricks.
The buttons on the front allow you to play games with your stick man.
When they are connected together then the fun begins. They can play catch, train together and play allsorts of other games. The best and most fun will be when they have a full blown punch up with each other 🙂 Sounds like a great laugh.

Fuel Cells seem to be in the news more often these days. They are set to become the replacement for the laptop battery for 1 example. Currently they are bulky and a little too large to be convenient for laptop users… but no doubt in a years time they will shrink them in size and manage to get fuel cells in to the laptop instead of being a huge bolt on like the picture below. Some of the main brands around the world are building these trying to come up with the ideal power source. Tosiba (photo below), and Casio are both running in this game. Casio stated back in 2002 they wanted to use Fuel Cell technology to power laptops for around 20 hours at a time.
Instead of storing power, fuel cells generate electricity by breaking down methanol via an electrochemical process. In the Toshiba version there is a compartment to put the methanol cartridge in (looks like a printer cartridge) and this gives instant power at the push of a button. Great for long journeys… no charging is needed. Just fill up the cell and away you go. Toshiba say the cell will give around 10 hours of power to a laptop.
Toshiba already are in talks with companies to shrink down some of the components needed like the pump and other parts. They want to get this out with in the year to a more acceptable size and with the goal in mind of putting the fuel cell where the battery goes for ultimate portability.
A British firm are to unveil a wall socket PC (pictured below). The wall socket PC is a thin client terminal which can be powered by ethernet and fits in to the wall. The device starts at £209.

A thin client is a computer (client) in client-server architecture networks which has little or no application logic, so it has to depend primarily on the central server for processing activities. The word “thin” refers to the small boot image which such clients typically require – perhaps no more than required to connect to a network and start up a dedicated web browser or “Remote Desktop” connection such as X11, Citrix ICA or Microsoft RDP.
This new(ish) wireless router is the answer for those of you who hate loosing your connection mid game. This beast delivers a whopping 25,000sq metres of coverage (that’s 500% more wireless coverage than standard 802.11g).
The RangeMax is designed to work on the fly and will adapt to any situation. If someone uses a mobile phone or microwave in the presense of one of these then it will auto adjust and create a new path (as shown on the funky animation below).

This is the wall climbing Hummer!!!
What you do is just drive up to a wall… and continue driving. The Hummber then carries on but going upwards instead of across the floor.
So how does it work? It’s basically a remote control vacuum cleaner. The Hummer sucks air in which pins it to the wall.

Barclays bank in the UK are now offering AntiVirus from F-Secure and also giving a 2 year subscription included. This is down to a deal for 1.6Million licences.
Also Barclays is bringing out a new service which sends the user a text message each time money is moved with their account details.
F-Secure released statistics to show that just over 55% of internet users do not have any sort of virus protection. All Barclays ibank users… check your post soon.
