Three is launching a new MiFi model called the Huawei E586. The new device is the first from the company that utilizes HSPA+ mobile broadband technology.
Samsung Super AMOLED HD Coming Soon
In the next few months we could start to see smartphones that have screens measuring 5 to 6 inches in size. These new devices will use AMOLED HD screens created by Samsung that are capable of showing HD resolutions. The first device expected, according to OLED Info, is the GT-I9220 which will use a 5.3 inch screen. 7 inch tables with the same AMOLED HD screens will also begin to arrive at the end of this year.
Skype WiFi for iOS Launches
Skype has launched a new app for iOS devices called Skype WiFi. The app lets you use Skype Credit to pay for WiFi access, by the minute, at a number of hotspots around the globe. The idea behind it is that you have a single service to log in to and then have an easy way to pay for what you use rather than paying for a full day usage at a time which is common in a number of places.
Sony PlayStation 3 Price Dropped by $50
Sony will drop the price of the PlayStation 3 down from $300 to $250 and $350 to $300 for the base and next model up from that. The reason for the price drop is so that Sony can reach out to even more gamers in the coming months. The PlayStation 3 is now 5 years old and perhaps is also making way for a PlayStation 4 in the coming couple of years.
Apple OS X Lion 10.7.1 Update Rolls Out
Apple has released the first update for OS X Lion which brings the version up to 10.7.1. Included in this minor update are a few bug fixes that aim to make systems running it more reliable.
Cyanogen Mod Creator Hired by Samsung
A recent announcement has confirmed that the Cyanogen Mod creator, Steve Kondik, is now working for Samsung Mobile. The details came from an update on Facebook where confirmation of the new job was detailed.

A prototype of the HTC Holiday has been spotted on the Craigslist website. The device, pictured below, will be going to the AT&T network when it launches.
Fake iPhone 5 Unboxing
A fake, but interesting video of the iPhone 5 being unboxed has been posted on Youtube. The video is just a minute or so in length and shows two guys sneaking around an Apple office where they find an iPhone 5 and unbox it.
Upgrade Select Intel CPU Models via Software
Intel is beginning to offer (again) a CPU that can be upgraded by software. If you look back to last year, Intel provided a software update that cost $50 that allowed you to add an extra 1MB of L3 cache to your CPU. This year, the company is bringing the service to three Intel CPUs. As well as upgrading cache, the software update will also unlock some extra speed for the CPU. Apple OS X Lion USB Memory Added to Inventory
Last week, Apple launched a utility that allows you to create a recovery image of OS X so that if you run in to problems with your OS X Lion install, you can recover from external media. Apple was also rumored to be releasing a dedicated USB stick with OS X Lion recovery built in. We now hear that this product has been added to the Apple inventory list.
56 Million iPhone Orders Made for 2H11 – Half to be iPhone 5
Apple is believed to have increased its order of 50 million iPhones for the second half of 2011 up to 56 million. Digitimes reports that about half of these orders are for the new iPhone 5 model which could launch next month. The other half are expected to be a mixture of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
Google Ready to Acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5B
Google has announced that it will be acquiring Motorola Mobility for about $12.5 billion USD. This amount is calculated based on $40 per share in cash.
The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.
