Google Earth for iPhone gets an Update

iPhone-Google-Earth-itemsThe iPhone app, Google Earth, has received an update that sees a bunch of new features being added to the software. The new software is named Google Earth 2.0 and now provides more integration with your computer that allows you to view maps you create on your computer.

The new integration allows you to use the My Maps website on your computer to look at various trips. When saved, the information is automatically synced to your iPhone allowing you to access needed information while on the move. [Read more…]

T-Mobile Sidekick back on Sale

sidekick-dataA few weeks back there was a problem that caused data for sidekick users to be lost causing some big headaches for all those involved. It seems like T-Mobile is ready to move on as they have now announced that the T-Mobile Sidekick is now available again for sale.

‘T-Mobile is pleased to announce that Sidekick sales have resumed. New pricing for the Sidekick LX 2009 will be $149.99 with a two-year contract and the Sidekick 2008 will be $49.99 with a two-year contract. [Read more…]

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Hands-on Video – Runs Faster Now

xperia-x10A few weeks ago the XPERIA X10 was announced and at that time it was reported as being a bit sluggish in menu transitions and responsiveness in general. It seems like the new phone has had a firmware update though that has fixed all the problems.

With the phone coming in Feb 2010, there is still a bit more time for more tweaks although it seems the Android based phone is actually running ok now. [Read more…]

iPhone TomTom to get an Update

Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition Announced

Nokia-5330-mobile-TV-editionNokia have announced a new phone called the Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition that as the name describes, has something to do with watching TV. The 5330 TV Edition supports the DVB-H standard (digital video broadcasting handheld) that is prevalent around Europe and the adopted standard over this way.

The phone has a QVGA screen that measures 2.4 inches, a 3.5mm headphone jack that allows usage of regular headphones and can playback TV for up to 6 hours on a single charge. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 Android Phone Announced

samsung-galaxy-spica-ofcSamsung announced a new smartphone today called the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700. The phone is Google [GOOG] android based and runs with an 800MHz processor. Although not quite the speed of the Snapdragon processors running at 1GHz it’s still a bump up from other android based phones that tend to run a little slower.

The Samsung Galaxy comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack so that standard head/ear phones can be attached for listening to music. Power is provided by a 1500mAh battery and the phone measures 13.2mm in thickness making it fairly slim. [Read more…]

Palm webOS 1.3.1 Now Available

paid-palm-pre-appsIf you have a Palm Pre on the Sprint network then information on the Palm site indicates an update to webOS is being launched on November 15 (although some reports are saying you can get it right now). The update takes webOS from version 1.2.1 to 1.3.1. Information in version text at Palm indicates that no new applications are being added, but that some changes are being made to current versions of the applications.

Updates include backups now saving cookies so that when a restore is done you can continue using websites where your username and password has been stored. [Read more…]

Vodafone_360_Samsung_M1_Black_h1Vodafone are now selling the Samsung M1 in the UK costing nothing when paying £20/month on a 2 year agreement. If you prefer an 18 month agreement then the cost is £35/month currently.

The Samsung M1 is a Vodafone 360 phone that has a large touchscreen. Software called 3D contacts allows you to tap on a photo of a friend to chat with them or send them a message. GPS built in the phone allows you to share your current location with friends allowing you to easily meet up with those nearby. [Read more…]

Fujitsu F-04B Dual Keyboard Projector Phone

Fujitsu-F_04B_1Fujitsu have revealed a new phone called the Fujistu F-04B that has a dual keyboard setup, projector and a 3.4″ screen that separates from the keyboards.

When separated the keyboards and screen connect over a Bluetooth connection. Each part of the phone contains a battery to keep it running. The screen section of the phone works independently allowing you to detach the keyboard to slim the whole unit down a little and then use the keyboard when needed. Alternatively you can attach them together and access the keyboard like a slider phone. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 on Vodafone – Free on £35/Month Contract

voadafone-htc-hd2Vodafone [VOD] have launched the much anticipated HTC HD2 on to their network in the UK, and good news is that if your willing to spend £35/month on a 2 year contract, you can pick it up for free.

The 35/month 2 year contract also entitles you to 900 minutes of free calls to landlines and other mobile networks along with unlimited internet access.

The main feature of the HTC HD2 is that it has a large 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen along with a 1GHz SnapDragon processor that allows it to work very smoothly. HTC decided to go with Windows Mobile 6.5 on the HD2 although they also have installed the HTC Sense UI hiding some of the frustrations that Windows Phone operating systems bring. [Read more…]

Orange iPhone – 30,000 Units Sold on Launch Day

orange-iphoneYesterday saw the launch of the Apple [AAPL] iPhone on to the Orange network in the UK. The launch came as the O2 exclusive contract came to an end. Reports show that launch day went well with Orange shifting over 30,000 units on the first day.

The amount of phones sold sets a record for the Orange network and as O2 have been the only company allowed to sell the iPhone it must make Orange happy that they can now get in on the iPhone.

In the next few months we will see the Vodafone network starting to offer the iPhone in the UK which will also increase competition on the device. Orange was partly criticised recently for being too tight with their unlimited (limited) download of 750MB/month although with iPhone sales hitting a record for Orange it seems that either people do not know about the 750MB limit, or that they are not too fussed. HTC HD2 Painfully Dissected

HTC-HD2-InnardsXDA Developers are full of good information today. We literally just wrote about Google Maps Navigation hacked on to the T-Mobile G1 and now we see a new HD2 has been taken apart to show what exactly is inside the casing of the giant screen phone.
