Palm Pre gets a Virtual Keyboard

Palm-Pre-Virtual-KeyboardHidden deep within Palm Pre’s WebOS a bit of code was found that is actually for a virtual keyboard. The virtual keyboard seems to have 2 options available in that it can work both portrait and landscape.

It was found by some coders who were snooping around looking for hidden features in the Pre’s operating system. The pre-alpha keyboard has been tested across all apps and was found to work on all programs and fields within programs. [Read more…]

Dell Android Photos and Specs

504x_DelloPhoneBGR’s ninjas found out some more details about the Dell Android phone. The specs could be as follows…

It will probably have a 3.5 inch display with a resolution of 640×360 pixels. GPS will be built in, a MicroSD slot for expanding storage capacity and a 3 megapixel camera.

Apple iPhone Explosion – Yes, Another One

iphone_homeAnother report of an iPhone Explosion is moving around the web today. This time the report comes from France where a French teenager claims to have been hit in the eye from a flying bit of glass caused by a screen exploding.

The report also mentions that the phone made the traditional hissing sound which followed by the screen breaking. Another report was recently mentioned a couple of weeks back from Liverpool where an iPhone was heard to be hissing and apparently jumped several feet in the air after being thrown out to the garden.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission in California also has documents outlining another 15 cases of burns cases as a result of people chilling out with their iPod tunes.

Underground iPhone App Store Becoming More Popular

iPhone-DevelopersApple recently rejected the new Google Voice app in it’s app store which caused a bit of a stir in the industry. The FCC jumped in to this last week. All that aside, it has started to annoy developers that Apple have such a heavy hand on this matter. It appears that more and more developers are moving over to an underground app store for the iPhone called Cydia. This is the app store which is home to apps that Apple doesn’t approve.

The 5 month old store is run by Jay Freeman and is currently growing at a tremendous rate. About 10 percent of the 40 million iPhone/iPod Touch users have logged in to the store to download software. About 470000 users per day connect to the store which is an increase of just a few months ago that saw 350000 per day. [Read more…]

LG Crystal GD900 Hands On

LG-Crystal-GD900LG recently created a video demonstration showing off the LG Crystal GD900. The Crystal is one of the next phones to be launched and it’s most striking feature is the transparent slide down keypad – hence the Crystal name.

Apple SMS Security Fix Complete

Apple-iPhone-SMSApple have now fixed the iPhone’s SMS security flaw. This fix secures the phone from a remote attack that could have been exploited. The patch is available via iTunes update.

If you are unaware what the vulnerability is on the iPhone then read on. Last week a couple of researches found out that by sending an iPhone a string of text messages that it could give them access to your iPhone. The text messages sent included executable code which was embedded in the iPhones memory opening it up for remote access. [Read more…]
