If you are looking at going swiming with your iPod then you will need one of these cases from H20. The case features rubber seals which keeps it completly waterproof down to 3 meters which is just fine for regular swimming type activities. The case still allows you to control the iPod by its unique CommanderTM scroll wheel control. Just remember that you will need the correct type of headphones to go under water. H20 also have sorted that already with their nice designed headphones which are also fully waterproof. A picture of the headphones can be found after the jump.

LG MFFM37 Touch Screen Player
LG have launched their first video MP3 player named the Touch Me MFFM37. It has a 2.4 inch LCD touch screen which runs at 320 x 240 pixels. It will be coming out in June. Two options will be available for this MP3 video player which are a 2GB model and 4GB model. No word yet if this can be expended through SD or some other format. The player us capable of playing MP3, WMA, Ogg, JPEG for images and WMV and MPEG4 for video. The battery will power the device for 3 hours while watching video and up to 6 hours for audio playback.
Samsung 8GB microSD Card
microSD cards are becoming more popular in mobile phones. The latest phone I got has room for one of these cards. Some suppliers are handing out 128Mb to 512Mb cards for their phones. Back in February a 4GB model was introduced. Three months later we now hear reports that Samsung have created an 8GB microSD card. Thats incredible to put it plainly. A microSD card measures just 15 mm — 11 mm — 0.7 mm which is about the size of a fingernail. Unfortunately it is not going to be available for another year. The speed is quite impressive too as it can transfer 16MBps for reading and 6MBps for writing.
Concept SLIQ-phone
The concept SLIQ phone is very SLIQ. It has no keyboard, keypad and works with an improved sensory interface. The phone is just 10mm thick, has a nice LCD display and has a 2 megapixel camera built in. My personal opinion on this is that it does look cool. I am not fully convinced on the use of touch screens as interfaces though. They work ok on a Pocket PC as you use a stylus for them, but for a mobile phone I am not 100% convinced yet. I do hope the iPhone and SLIQ (If it becomes real) do change my mind.
Smellophone – A Phone that you can Smell
Motorola have a patent which is named the Smellophone. If you are thinking a Smellophone means a phone that you smell then you are not far off the mark. The patent says its a communication device having a scent release feature and method thereof. Interesting, but I dont know if it would really take off. This phone doesnt seem to cater to smelling who is on the other side of the phone and their environment, but seems to indicate it is more aimed at those who want to take the smell of their home with them where ever they are to have that sense of being at home around you.
007 Phone – Weird but Cool
The 007 Phone is a mixture of an old phone with new insides. It reminds me of one of those old Motorola brick phones from the 80s, but yet crammed with todays technology. The screen is quite large at about 4 – 5 inches although specs do not confirm this. The phone has a built in 2 megapixel camera, 3D surround with stereo speakers and has a lot of James Bond images and music built in. One more picture after the jump. [Read more…]
Sky IM-R200 with OLED touch keypad
Sky are releasing a dual LCD slider phone named the IM-R200 which has an OLED touch screen keypay. The OLED keypad can be custom configured or use one of the 27 combination displays. The phone has some other nice features too such as a dual camera which allows for making video calls as well as pictbridge technology. Memory can be enhanced through a microSD slot. I like the look of this phone and its use of OLED technology ads a nice twist to the phone. Another picture is available after the jump.
Bamboo Phone
Most, if not all phones I use have been made out of plastic. This new patent shows a new type of phone which is made out of bamboo. Yep, thats the wooden sticks that could be called a type of grass. The bamboo has a nanotech coating treated with Gamma rays so that it is more durable. Also the gamme rays used get rid of dangerous stuff like bacteria. Once coated with nanotech the final coating is titanium dioxide is silver or zinc dioxide to give it a nice look. I am not sure if the purpose of this phone is to be green (in the environment way) or to make it weigh next to nothing.
Blogging on your Mobile Phone
Mobile phones are getting tons of new features. Nokia is company who create phones with some blogging software in. The next in line is Google working with Sony Ericsson. They have created software which is compatible with Blogger allowing you to blog from your mobile phone. As well as being able to input text they also integrate the blogging software with the camera on your phone allowing you to snap a picture and send it to your blog. This is ideal for those out on the road who want to take their blogging with them.
The service will be shipping on the K800 and K790 as well as the K610 UMTS phone. Video after the jump.
Unique Skype Phone in a Mouse
Skype has become very popular over the few years that it has been running. It has opened up a whole new level of communications and a whole new area for businesses to work in. The latest Skype gadget to hit the market is the Mouse Skype Phone. By combining the mouse with Skype you get to use the mouse as a mouse when needed, but can then pick up the mouse, flip it open and receive or make a call.
Digio USB Flash Drive
Some great ideas for flash drives have been showing up over the last couple of years. We only just posted about the Pocket XP flash drive which allowed you to keep a backup of your OS should you need to do an urgent install when on the road. The Digio is another example of a great idea. This time the flash drive includes SD and MicroSD slots so you can transfer data to and from your SD cards via the flash drive. Its a simple idea which could be handy for those situations where you need to quickly backup data from your camera or mobile phone.
MS Windows XP in your Pocket
The USB flash drive has become more useful over the years with devices such as the VPhone from Vonage allowing you to carry around a land line which can be loaded up on any computer with internet access. With the rise of memory storage capacity also come other uses such as this Windows backup OS on a flash drive.
Put your self in this situation. You are out on business and you load up some software containing a virus which destroys part of your Windows XP OS. Being out of the road and having no access to the internet on another PC would make it very hard to fix this issue. Having a bootable flash drive running Windows XP would solve this problem for you. Using Bart PE Builder you can create a very handy flash drive with OS and plenty of utilities which could save your laptop a lot quicker then sending it back to the IT dept to fix.
