Alarm Volume Booster

I find as I get older that I tend to not hear my mobile phone trying to wake me up. Then I came across the home made volume booster. It requires a glass and a phone. Basically you stick the phone in the glass, and aim towards your head. Amazing 🙂

Sharp W-ZERO3 Smartphone

Another beauty from Sharp. The W-ZERO3 smartphone has now been revealed. Do not get too excited though… it’s going to be launched in Japan only according to sources. The new Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone has some rather flashy features. It is powered by a 416Mhz Intel PXA270 processor and can handle a resolution of 640×480 on a 2.8″ screen. It can operate both in portrait and landscape mode. It has a slide out keyboard and includes a stylus to make navigation far easier. It has wifi, 1.3 megapixel camera although Bluetooth support is not listed as a feature (Like I care with it going to Japan only:)).

Mobile Phone Telescopic Lens

I thought this one was quite funny when I saw it. It’s a telescopic lens for a mobile phone. The reason for this is that the profile of a mobile phone is rather small from front to back. Not enough to currently pack a powerful lens in to. This new telescope lens can give your phone up to 6x magnification with only a slight modification. The lens can be detached and added quickly and easily. It looks to only be compatible with the Nokia 6230/6230i and 6680 mobile phones.

Another good point is that the lens only costs $19.00

Jabra iPod Bluetooth Adapter – The A125s

Jabra have introduced the Bluetooth A125s bluetooth adapter.

It is compatible with both the Nano and Video version and offers 10 hours of playback and 250 hours of standby time. It should retail around the $75 mark but unfortunatly is not going to cut the cord on headphones unless BT compatibles ones are released like the Nike+iPod kit.

Sony Ericsson W810

The new Sony Ericsson W810 is another mobile in the Walkman range of phones which I think are very good. It is the son of the W800 which was another excellent phone. The W810 improves on some of the bad parts of the W800 which were not that many. It has a new joystick and the mobile internet is changed. The colour of the phone is changed from White to Black. It is the familier Orange colour which we are used to seeing in this range of W phones.

A 512Mb memory card is included which is changeable for an even larger one. A downside is the slow USB connection to a PC. The cable is included but it doesnt perform how we would all expect. However, who really cares about the USB connection speed 🙂 I have never used it yet. Always use Bluetooth or a card reader.

Konica Minolta – Organic EL Display

Liquid crystal display (LCD) is widely used for flat panel displays due to its
attractive appearance when compared to CRT and PDP displays. The disadvantage of using LCD is that a back light is required separately. An organic EL display with light emitting properties will allow technology to evolve and erase the need for the separate back light. Organic EL can also be manipulated to be a thinner, lighter and more energy efficient than its LCD counterpart.

This is why the new organic display from Konica/Minolta is so exciting. It is definitely a step in the right direction! The current prototype has a luminance of 1,000 cd/m2. No news has been revealed if this will hit production any time soon but konica/Minolta will surely be drawing attention to their pioneering research and development of this type of material. Their website holds more information on the differences of LCD and organic EL materials and the science that will bring us the next generation of technology. [konica website]

Mitsubishi D902iS

The Mitsubishi D902is is a new slider phone that will hit the market imminently¦ in Japan that is. Europe has to sit and wait to see when this will hit its shores, but when, and if, it does, this phone will be sure to raise some eyebrows. It is packed with a ton of features. All of its features are crammed into it’s 110 x 49 x 19.9mm chassis. It has a huge 400 x 240 screen, a better then average 4 megapixel camera with MP4 video recording. A MiniSD slot and can browse the web at a handy 384kbps. Unfortunatly the word is that this is not expected to leave Japan and thus, us lot are left to drool.

LG Super 3G Widescreen Slider Phone (LG-SGH100)

LG have launched the Super 3G widescreen slider phone named the LG-SGH100. They are also releasing the LG-KH1000 which both look like nice new additions to the market. My first impressions are that this will sell because of the wide screen offering. The slider both slides down or across so that the phone can be used in widescreen mode. The phone comes with 2Gb Flash and 1Gb SDRAM or 512Mb of flash with 256Mb SDRAM. Thats a lot of storage packed in there! It has a 1.3 Mega pixel camers, a 2.2″ screen. The phone weighs just 125g.
