Samsung Galaxy S Mini Smartphone Details Leaked

Some information has leaked (including some pictures) of a new Samsung Galaxy S class smartphone. This time, it’s the mini version that has leaked.

The smartphone is called the Samsung Galaxy S Mini and is numbered the S5830. As the name suggests (Mini), it’s a smaller version of the regular Galaxy S in that it has a 3.5 inch display that has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Released to Developers

Apple has released iOS 4.3 beta 1 to developers indicating that the latest update isn’t too far away now.

A number of new features and several changes can be found in the new iOS which includes the ability to create a personal hotspot, just like the Verizon iPhone has the ability to do.

Another one of the big changes which follows on from the last post reveals that those running iOS 4.3 on the iPad will now have multi-touch gestures available that allow you to use 4 or 5 fingers on the screen in a pinching motion which in turn, jumps you back to the Home Screen. Samsung Fascinate Gets Large Update But Stays on Android 2.1

The Samsung Fascinate that runs on the Verizon network has received an update. The update is quite large in the number of changes it makes to the Android phone but unfortunately, it’s just a number of tweaks to Android 2.1 that it already runs. This means that Fascinate users are still waiting for the Android 2.2 update.

On to what the update does, we hear that a number of new features and improvements have been added. The version number of the update is i500.DL09 and it brings updated versions of V CAST Videos, City ID and the VZ Navigator. Samsung Vibrant Plus to get 21+ Mbps on 4G

We hear today that when T-Mobile launch the Samsung Vibrant Plus it will connect up to the 4G network, which we already knew, but that it will be capable of transfer speeds of 21+ Mbps which is quite amazing.

Of course, to get those speeds you need to be in perfect conditions, but still it’s certainly not something to complain about at all. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Could Get Mobile Hotspot Features

When Verizon announced the iPhone 4 yesterday, there weren’t many changes at all. The changes to hardware included a slight change to the antenna because of the device using CDMA, and a lack of a microSIM slot due to a SIM not being needed.

The only software change made to the Verizon version was in the settings menu where a new item called Mobile Hotspot was spotted. When enabled, it allows users to set up the iPhone 4 as a mobile hotspot and let other users connect over WiFi or Bluetooth to it. The iOS running on the Verizon iPhone is 4.2.5 which is slightly higher than the GSM model of the phone. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone 4 Appears to Solve Death Grip

That thin black bar seen on the bottom left corner of the iPhone 4 caused a number of issues for Apple in the early days of the smartphone launch.

The problem for some people appeared when holding the phone in the left hand. When the hand bridged the gap over that black bar, the signal dropped dramatically when out on the fringes of a network. Apple responded by giving away a free bumper or 3rd party case to all iPhone 4 owners. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone Could Be Announced Today

Today, it is expected that Verizon will announce the iPhone coming to its network. Rumors have been around for months about Verizon getting the smartphone and finally, we expect it will all happen later on today.

Skype Hits 27 Million Simultaneous Users – Highest Yet

Yesterday, Skype hit a record in the number of people who were simultaneously using the service. During peak hours, 27 million users were logged in to the service which is up 2 million from the previous record.

The reasons that an extra couple of million people might have been logged on is due to some recent changes such as the iOS version of the app allowing video calls to be made. [Read more…]

Angry Birds Free Launches in the App Store

Rovio Mobile Ltd. has launched a new version of Angry Birds for the iPhone. The new version is called Angry Birds Free and is an ad supported version of the game that has 12 levels.

The 12 levels are unique to the free version of the game so probably wont be seen elsewhere on other versions. As well as providing 12 new levels, Angry Birds Free also has 4 mini episodes for you to work through. Game Center support is built in as well as leaderboards and achievements. [Read more…]

Android 2.4 Ice Cream Hinted at for This Summer

Reports today indicate that the next version of Android for smartphones will be launching in the summer of this year. The new version will be Android 2.4 and will be codenamed Ice Cream. Expect it to be officially announced in May.

Google uses the alphabet to give the devices code names which starts with the 2.x versions as Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Honeycomb is actually version 3.0 and departs from the 2.x numbering due to Honeycomb being for tablets only. Ice Cream which is the next smartphone version jumps back to the 2.x numbering system. Verizon [VZ] is holding a press event tomorrow where it is believed that the Verizon iPhone will finally be announced.

Rumors about an iPhone on Verizon have been around for a couple of years now, but have accelerated over the last 6 to 12 months with many people hinting that the AT&T exclusivity will be coming to an end. [Read more…]

PlayStation Phone Captured on Video

More details of the PlayStation Phone have arrived, thanks to a few leaks here and there.

The leaked details come from a website called IT168 based in China who confirm that inside is a Snapdragon processor running at 1GHz. Also, it runs a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU. The smartphone/portable games device has been benchmarked at just below 60 frames per second.

The memory on the PlayStation Phone is 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM and it has a microSD card slot for storage purposes. [Read more…]
