iPhone 3G & 3GS Redsn0w Download Now Ready

Yesterday saw the launch of the new PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition. This particular tool is now used to start the unlock process on your old baseband iPhone 4 (01.59.00), iPhone 3G and 3GS on various basebands. Make sure you read the instructions before running to grab Ultrasn0w as the new Ultrasn0w 1.2 version doesn’t work out of the box for those on the 05.14 or 05.15 basebands.

Today, we now see the launch of the Redsn0w tool and it is now available for download. It works in a similar way to the PwnageTool whereby you need to create a custom firmware build with the iPad 3.2.2 baseband mixed in to unlock the iPhone. For those that need or prefer the Redsn0w tool, you can grab all the instructions on how to run and unlock your iPhone from here. [Read more…]

iPhone 3G & 3GS Unlock Getting Ready for Launch

The iPhone Dev-Team has just announced in a blog post that Ultrasn0w is about to be updated to Ultrasn0w 1.2 (any moment now). The new 1.2 version is capable of unlocking an iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS on (as well as older baseband iPhone 4) running the following basebands…

iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and now 06.15.00

One thing you might note here is that 05.14 and 05.15 is missing from the list. Luckily there is a way around this where you download the iPad iOS 3.2.2 firmware and use the PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition to update the baseband to 06.15.00. This baseband is unlockable by the Ultrasn0w 1.2 tool. [Read more…]

Microsoft Respond to Windows Phone 7 Unlock Tool

Yesterday, a new tool was launched that allows you to unlock a feature on Windows Phone 7 smartphones. Once unlocked, you gain the ability to sideload apps as though you were a developer.

Microsoft [MSFT] has now officially responded. In simple form, they advice against doing it.

“We anticipated that people would attempt to unlock the phones and explore the underlying operating system. We encourage people to use their Windows Phone as supplied by the manufacturer to ensure the best possible user experience. Attempting to unlock a device could void the warranty, disable phone functionality, interrupt access to Windows Phone 7 services or render the phone permanently unusable.”

Sony Ericsson X10 Android 2.1 Update Delayed for AT&T Users

It seems that the Android 2.1 is being delayed again for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. This time it’s for those users who own it on the AT&T network in the US.

The reason for this particular delay is a little vague to be honest. It has been put down to some rigorous testing that caused some technical requirements not to be met. ie, it could be AT&T who are being very strict with what can and cannot land on its network. [Read more…]
