T-Mobile G2 Released Early

Tmonews is reporting that the T-Mobile G2 has gone on sale early. It isn’t clear if this is at all locations around the US, or if it is just in some select stores and early.

Verizon to Credit Customers for Incorrect Data Charges

Verizon [VZ] will be paying back up to $90 million to customers who were charged for using data when they didn’t have a data plan. Verizon has looked back over several years to find that some customers have been charged for something they haven’t used.

About 15 million customers will be notified about the mistake over the next two months and each of which will fall in the refund category of a $2 to $6 refund. [Read more…]

HTC HD7 Specs Leak

More details of the HTC HD7 have leaked. This time the news comes from a tipster who posted some specs from O2 Germany on to a popular blog.

What we know is that the HD7 will be a Windows Phone 7 device. It will be a flagship smartphone. The processor running inside will be clocked at 1GHz. For storage it will have 8GB and the camera will be 5 megapixels.

For connectivity it will have wireless 802.11b/g/n. [Read more…]

T-Mobile myTouch Appears on T-Mobile Site

The T-Mobile myTouch was just mentioned here in the last hour. We now see that a page on the T-Mobile.com website has been put up that provides a few more details about the device as well as indicating its closer than we thought to launch day.

The HSPA+ connection allows the device to download data at up to 14.4 Mbps. This, of course, assumes you are in the best spot for network connectivity to reach maximum.

We also learn that the device uses the “Genius Button” that lets users use voice commands to access various functions of the phone. [Read more…]

T-Mobile myTouch Android 2.2 Smartphone Announced

T-Mobile has announced the new myTouch. The myTouch is an Android 2.2 based smartphone that has a 3.8 inch WVGA screen along with a 5 megapixel camera that can capture at 720p.

Inside, a 1GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon powers the device. For connectivity it has WiFi of course, along with HSPA+ that allow the device to connect and send/receive data at 4G speeds. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Launch Date – October 11

Windows Phone 7 will launch on October 11. Previously we heard that an event in London would be held. We also now hear that an event is being held in New York and that T-Mobile in NYC will be the star of the show, so to speak.

This information uncovers some interesting information such as T-Mobile introducing devices. Until now it was believed that AT&T would be the exclusive launch partner, but this seems to confirm that T-Mobile will be available too on or soon after launch.

Also it was believed that just a London event was being held, but now we see that the US will also see the handsets on the same day. Perhaps other countries will also roll out that day. [Read more…]

HTC Merge/Lexikon User Guide Show Bing Integration

Droid Life managed to get hold of a users manual for the HTC Merge/Lexikon smartphone device.

The userguide indicated that the new (name unconfirmed) smarphone will run Android 2.2 when it launches. It will have the latest Google Android OS installed (2.2 Froyo) and will have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for text input, as seen in the image above.

Rather than using the regular Google integration of Android, this device will have a heavy integration of Bing. The phone is headed to Verizon [VZ] which explains why Bing is heavily integrated. [Read more…]

Android Market Opens Up to More Countries

Google has announced that support for paid application sales is expanding and that developers in 29 countries can now take part. As well as expansion with the developers side of things, paid apps in the Android Market are now available to people in 32 countries.

For developers, there are changes that might need to be made to your apps. If you have made them available in “all locations” then no further action is required on your part. However, if you have restricted the countries then you might want to log in and change the settings if you want users in the countries to be able to grab the apps. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Could Arrive in US on November 8

In less than two weeks time, Microsoft [MSFT] will be officially announcing the launch of the Windows Phone 7 platform. Shortly after, it is expected that manufacturers will start shipping handsets.

The launch in the UK is expected to be on or around October 21. We now hear that for those on the AT&T network in the US, they can expect to start picking up the new OS on smartphones on November 8.

The reason that only AT&T has been mentioned is that in the past, we heard that they have exclusivity on the handsets till early next year. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 Camera Comparison

With the launch of the Nokia N8 yesterday, one of the big questions about the new smartphone is how it compares to the iPhone 4 in terms of picture quality.

The Nokia N8 has a 12 megapixel sensor with Carl Zeiss optics while the iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel sensor.

Engadget decided to run a side by side video and picture test to see which performs the best. Naturally you’d think a 12 megapixel camera would be the winner, but surprisingly the results are quite similar. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Gets Reviewed Briefly

We mentioned earlier today that the Nokia N8 had started shipping. SlashGear managed to get hold of one today and have done a mini video review of the new smartphone.

The review goes through a basic unboxing that shows which cables are available along with the manuals, PSU and a quick overview of the phone. Software is demonstrated on the device and shows a number of features such as the video editing software thats built in, along with various other applications that run on the device. [Read more…]

BlackBerry Curve 3G and Pearl 3G Headed to AT&T

The BlackBerry Curve 3G and Pearl 3G will soon become available on the AT&T network in the US.

The announcement came from AT&T who said that each of the smartphones would be made available on its 3G network.

Each of the smartphones has social networking access along with access to the BlackBerry App World. Carrier billing is also integrated with App World that allows customers to purchase apps from the store but be billed by AT&T for the download. [Read more…]
