HP Hit Print Ad

About a year ago, Matt and Tom created a video showing several HP printers printing an animation. The video was created because of a student competition with the brief being as follows… “Present an idea which promotes HP Workstations ability to bring to life anything the creative mind can conceive”. The original can be found here.

The team who created it were asked by HP to create another film for the company, ie a sequel. The short film follows the same style as the last in that it uses HP printers to print out frames of an animation.

The video took a week to film and used HP Photosmart printers with paper fed in real time. The footage captured was then sped up showing off an animation. [Read more…]

iTunes Cloud and Wireless Sync Could be Coming Soon

Apple [AAPL] could be bringing a new version of iTunes out soon that will bring a number of new features to the program. One of the new services will be iTunes Cloud that allows streaming music and movies from Apple to your computer and other devices as well as being able to stream from your own computer to other computers on the network.

The Cloud system will allow any device with wireless capability to stream audio and video. For example, you purchase a song on your computer at home… from what we understand you can simply log in to your iTunes account on your iPhone and stream that particular song to your phone. This will help cut down storage issues essentially giving you a full library of music to access whilst on the move. [Read more…]

Google Voice Desktop App Demoed

TechCrunch managed to get hold of a copy of a desktop version of Google Voice. The software came thanks to a request to a source who they wanted some pictures from. Instead, he sent them the full app to test.

The app looks basic in layout and is simply a dialler with access to your address book. Call quality is described on the demo video over at TechCrunch as being good with no echos and very good clarity. A couple of test calls were made to show the call quality. [Read more…]

Microsoft Kinect on Jimmy Fallon

The Jimmy Fallon show last night had the Microsoft Kinect being demonstrated. The Kinect is a new device from Microsoft [MSFT] that uses a camera system to track your body movements and basically use you as the controller.

The demonstration looks quite good. There is a little bit of lag in the game play in that when the people jump, the characters follow shortly after. However, it does look like a cool way to interact with games and could be a lot of fun when launched in a few months time (by the way, pre-orders are detailed here). [Read more…]

Xbox 360 Slim Red Dot of Death Just a Warning

Last week we mentioned that the new Xbox 360 slim from Microsoft [MSFT] had done away with the red ring of death and replaced it with a red dot of death.

We now learn that this isn’t quite the case. The red dot represents the Xbox shutting down to prevent it from overheating, which makes it instead, just a warning rather than a death.

It’s good that Microsoft can now detect the problem and do something about it before the Xbox dies. It’s just a shame that they can’t get enough ventilation through the device to prevent that message from ever appearing. [Read more…]
