Nintendo 3DS UK Model to Arrive Early 2011

For those wanting a Nintendo 3DS that was recently revealed at E3 this week, you’ll have to wait till early 2011 if a senior source from Nintendo is to be believed.

The Nintendo 3DS was expected to arrive here in the UK before Christmas, but it seems now that it will just miss the Christmas rush and land sometime early in 2011 which we hope is January although precise dates have not been confirmed.

The Nintendo 3DS seen at E3 might not be the final version with Nintendo commenting that the design of it could change before the launch date. Also we hear that one territory is likely to get the 3DS this year with the rest following next year. The exact first territory has not been revealed just yet. [Read more…]

Nintendo Could bring 3D to Next Home Console

Nintendo announced the Nintendo 3DS earlier this week. The portable handheld uses a glasses-free 3D effect that allows you to view 3D games whilst on the move.

We also hear from Nintendo that they could be introducing 3D in to their next games console, perhaps the Nintendo Wii 2. Rather than just throwing it unnecessarily in to a games console, the company is actually looking at 3D TV adoption rates where it has set a bar at about 30% adoption before it will consider launching a new 3D console.

“If you display a 3D image, the image quality becomes extremely bad, so we’d probably do it with the next system…We’re thinking that the timing should be once the 3D television adoption rates crosses the 30% mark. We’re looking at the adoption trends.”

Mac Mini Teardown

On Monday Apple [AAPL] launched the iPhone 4 as we all know about. The same day the new Mac Mini was introduced which now comes with a unibody and a HDMI port.

iFixit has managed to get hold of one, despite all the systems going down for a while on Monday, and have torn it down to see exactly what’s going on inside it.

Some things to note is that the new Mac Mini (mid 2010 model) is slimmer in height but slightly wider than the previous model. The power supply is now internal which gets rid of the brick used on previous models to keep it powered.

The casing is unibody as mentioned above and is machined from a single block of aluminium. To get inside the Mac Mini was simple in that no tools were needed to crack it open. A simple twist opened it up. [Read more…]

Xbox 360 Fathers Day Deal hits Walmart

Walmart in the US is offering a deal where you can pick up an Xbox 360 + 2 games and a $50 voucher for $149. That potentially brings the price down to $99 if you are intending to pick up other stuff whilst in store.

The offer is already available and limited to 1 per customer and will run till stocks have gone. We suspect that it’s partly to do with it being fathers day this weekend as well as the launch of the Xbox 360 slim to get rid of older stock. [Read more…]

Microsoft XBox 360 Kinect Starwars Demo Video

We are not 100% convinced this is actual game play on the new Microsoft XBox 360 Kinect. The demo shown on video is for Starwars and it shows a demo of the game running with a guy supposedly controlling it through the new XBox 360 Kinect (previously known as Project Natal).

The reason we posted it was because it looks great… but at the same time it doesn’t actually look real in that it seems like the user is following the character instead of the character following the user. It seems like it’s more staged than anything, but either way, hopefully we’ll see some clearer demos soon showing actual in-game footage and controlled by someone. [Read more…]

Microsoft Kinect Revealed – Project Natal Official Name

Microsoft [MSFT] has made the Microsoft Kinect official. Kinect is the new and official name for Project Natal.

The Microsoft Kinect allows you to interact with games as well as make four-way video calls. At the E3 event there were no prices revealed unfortunately and no launch dates either. Some rumours indicate that the Microsoft Kinect could cost as high as $150 when launched though and some are expecting that we might have to wait till late this year to get our hands on the Kinect.

From what Engadget have noted it appears that many games are one person at a time with just a couple of games allowing for two people to play. Games can be played with two players online in some cases though. [Read more…]

Microsoft XBox 360 Slim Spotted

Adverts for a new XBox 360 console appeared briefly on a number of sites this weekend. The ads revealed that Microsoft [MSFT] could be introducing the Microsoft XBox 360 slim sometime soon.

Update: Google Translate indicates the text in the image says… “alive today ready for the future of tomorrow Technology”.

The advert also revealed Kinect which is the new name for the XBox 360 Project Natal (more information on that shortly). What we also see in the Microsoft advert is a slimmer XBox 360 along with details that a 250GB hard drive can be found inside. WiFi is also included from what we understand in the advert.

Nothing official has been announced by Microsoft and it appears that the ads showing might have been running a little earlier, or that they “might” not be real. We doubt the latter as it would be a pointless task for someone to buy up a load of adspace for a few hours only to pull the ads. [Read more…]
