Fitness Computer

The fitness computer is built for those who feel that they have been sat around for too many years. Why not get some exercise while typing away? The only thing that could make it better is by running to keep the computer powered. I am sure that would get the most lazy among us running 🙂

Tire Alignment Sensors

michelin_tweel
This wheel features electronic sensors which are embedded in to the tire. Information is collected from the sensors and fed back to a vehicle information system. That data is processed and the “tweel ribs” flex through wireless technology to cause the pressure to stay level across the tire. The idea is just in concept at the moment from the guys over at Yanko. If this technology was to be made it would have a number of uses such as longer wear on the tire and even the possibility to not have to rotate the wheels like we currently do now.

3D Optical Illusion Machine

3d-optical-illusions
This machine was created by a Japanese engineer. It creates optical illusions instantaneously.

A Japanese engineer developed a machine that creates 3D optical illusions in real-time. Put simply, an object rotates while different scans are synchronized, and the following outcome is more than meets the eye. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Check out the video demonstration after the jump.

Flying Cloud Hotel – The Manned Cloud

Flying_hotel
A manned cloud is a flying hotel shaped like a cloud. It is developed by Massaud Studio and will accomodate 40 guests and will be able to fly 5000km travelling at around 130km/h although it could reach speeds of 170km/h. It has 2 decks which include a restaurant, library, fitness suite and spa, as well as the regular accommodation for the 40 guests. What a crazy way to take a nights rest. If I were spending the night here I probably wouldn’t sleep as I’d be fascinated with looking out of the windows. Trips will be organised for several days which could happen as early as next year.

Concept Clothes Label tag uses RFID

RFID Clothing Tag
According to a survey, 70% of people do not bother reading labels on clothing. This can of course cause problems with delicate clothing by damaging, shrinking, colours all merging etc… With the RFID Clothes Tag concept you need not worry again. By putting your RFID tagged clothes in to a compatible washing machine, you will never need to make setting changes again. The RFID will be detected and adjust the washing machine settings automatically so that nothing is damaged. The concept idea also makes mention of it communicating with your iron, dryer and presses so that exact temperatures are set when switching on the iron.

Styrofoam Sofa Could be Annoying

styrofoam_bench
Styrofoam, or polystyrene for us in the UK is the annoying stuff that breaks when trying to take gadgets out of their packaging. Once out it leaves white bobble things on the floor and basically is annoying. However, this did not stop Kwangho Lee from being creative and carving one in to a sofa. If you find your self a little uncomfortable then you can carve out the odd inch here and there to mould it to your perfect shape. Just don’t go dropping drinks or putting too much pressure as you could see your sofa slightly deteriorating over a few months.

Nintendo DS 2

nintendo-ds-2Back in December, Gizmodo created a wishlist about the next Gen Nintendo DS. Phil Nolan, a 3D artist, liked what he saw there and got to work creating a 3D rendering of what a Nintendo DS 2 could look like. Taking ideas from the iPhone, PSP and Wii the DS 2 pictured above was created. As can be seen, the faces of the device are shiny and the screens are larger then the regular DS. If Nintendo took some advice from Phil they would have a killer looking machine.

Concept Circle Phone

circle phone
As gadgets around the world continue to get more complex there will be a cry out for simple ideas to come back. One of these ideas will be the old fashioned circle type phone. Yankodesign now bring us the Circle Phone concept which has just 3 buttons and a rotary type dialling pad. I am baffled on how you actually hold this thing to your head, but simplicity is always good.

Dattoos – Concept DNA Based Technology

dattoo
The Dattoo is a DNA based personal technology that uses the skin of your body as an interface. Yep, it’s concept and one I don’t see coming out any time soon. It is designed by Hartmut Esslinger

To achieve absolute personal identification, the hardware would capture DNA from the user’s body, enabling direct participation in the political and cultural landscape. The technology would link remote users through engagement with their areas of interest…

Users view, test-drive, and select their product from a variety of options, both functional and aesthetic. They also set the life cycle of the product, to be utilized for a few hours or a much longer amount of time. Once users are satisfied with their specific configurations, they have this fully-functioning circuitry – including all UI-interactive and display functions – ‘printed onto recommended areas of their skin. Energy would be pulled from the human body to run the programs. At the end of the day, users would simply wash the Dattoos off, beginning anew the following day.

The idea does seem a little crazy, but I guess it could have it’s uses such as quickly accessing information that you know you will definitely have attached to you (literally). Also IBM a few years back tested using living skin to transmit data across. This could mean you transfer music from a camera in your left hand to the PC you are touching with your right hand. I’d prefer to stick to BlueTooth.

It all sounds too freaky to me and I’d be scared to see a BSOD on my arm.

TimeFlex – Stick on Watch Concept

timeflex
TimeFlex is a unique concept idea which uses a “self-gumming” sticker like watch which can stick on to any surface such as your hand, arm or clothing. The idea behind it is that sometimes you need a watch on you but it’s not always a good time to do so, such as when swimming. This watch could literally be stuck to your wrist or swimwear and not create any drag.

It’s not a concept I expect to see happen too soon though.

Nokia Eco Sensor Phone

nokia-eco-sensor-phone
Nokia have come up with some interesting concept ideas over the last few years. With “green” being the subject being discussed by many, a number of electronics creators are pushing this theme in to their creations. The Nokia Eco Sensor Phone is one such phone which Nokia want to have that green theme. The concept is that the phone comes with a separate wearable sensor unit which monitors the environment, your health and reports the weather. These features are optional and you can use the ones which suit you.

How is the Nokia Eco Sensor Phone Green?

This is the question I was asking at first. With this phone having environmental sensors built in to the wrist strap it can transmit information back to the phone via NFC (near field communication) and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). Information about the environment is displayed on the screen which makes you more aware of the pollution around you. If you constantly see high levels of carbon monoxide, ozone problems and such, then you are more likely to take action to reduce these outputs in your own life. This part of the Eco friendly phone seems more psychological. Luckily the green theme doesn’t stop there. This phone will be built on what is called the three Rs. That means reduce, reuse and recycle.
