Pocket Viewer

Pocket Viewer
The Pocket Viewer is aimed to help those with poor vision by magnifying text underneath it like a magnifying glass, but more in a hi tech way. The Pocket Viewer has a large 4 x 3 inch display and uses a digital camera underneath to read the text and then magnify it to put on the screen.

The device is about the size of a PDA and it costs a whopping 899 dollars.

Sony Ericsson W44S
The Sony Ericsson W44S is the latest multimedia phone of theirs to be announced. It has a dual hinge meaning it can open both upwards and across. It has a QVGA display, 115Mb of internal memory. The phone has a 1Seg TV tuner and video recording capabilities. It seems to have a 3.2 megapixel camera and looks like a good contender to hit the market.

Sling and Symbian SlingPlayer Partnership with 3

SlingPlayer Symbian
Sling has announced a parternership with 3 the mobile network. This will allow those of us in the UK to get the X-Series gear on December 1st. This idea is aimed to make mobile internet more useful to customers with out fear of data usage. This is personally one reason I do not use my mobile for browsing other then the free pages.

Currently the software is showing on the Nokia N73 (nice phone!) and the W950 from Sony.

Heated Mouse

Mouse Warmer
The heated mouse is an excellent idea which I could use in these cold parts of the year. Sometimes the heating still doesnt get the hands warm enough. Thanko have released the USB heated mouse but it will need to be imported. The heat function built in is optional which means in the summer months you do not have to use it. It will warm up to 45 degrees.

If this doesnt help then try out the Thanko Header Mouse Pad. The mouse sells for just 22 dollars and is powered by your USB port.

Wireless Air Guitar Shirt

Wireless Air Guitar Shirt
The wireless air guitar shirt is something different. It allows you to play music by waving your hands in a guitar fashion in front of the t-shirt. One hand can pick cords and the other can strum to imaginary music. Once this happens the music is sent direct to a near by PC wirelessly and played real time on the loud speakers. Video’s after the jump.

Digital Binocular Camera 5M Pixels

Digital Binocular Camera
The Pro Viewer BinoCam is a set of binoculars that allow you to take pictures of things far away. It has 3 functions. It can be used as a regular set of binoculars, it can take close up photos and it can take close up videos. The camera built in has a 5 megapixel sensor. Magnification is at the 8X factor and resolution goes all the way up to 1600×1200. The built in TFT screen is 1.5 inch.

To store pictures you need to have an SD card which is not included. If you do not then you cannot save pictures you take. Unfortunatly it uses USB 1.1 and not version 2.0. Thats a bad move in my opinion although if you have a card reader then it’s not too bad. Coolest-Gadgets points out some problems with the product information and it’s well worth a read at the link below.

Apple Orders 12M iPhones

iPhone
Apple is creating the iPhone and has awarded Foxconn the contract to built 12M of them. The iPhone is a much anticipated device from Apple. The news came from a Chinese language news paper called Commercial Times. The phone is set to be launched in the first quarter of 2007 and hopefully Steve Jobs will be showing off the handset at the Macworld Expo.

Apple have stated that next year will be a big year in terms of new products being release by them. Items such as the iPod Tablet and various new laptops it should be a great year if you can afford it all 🙂

Photo Rubiks Cube

Photo Rubiks Keyboard
The Photo Rubiks Cube works just like the regular rubiks cube but now has a photo on each face for you to jumble up and put back together. The original rubiks cube took me a fair while to crack but this one looks like it will be even harder due to mixed up photo’s and trying to find who’s face goes with who. All good fun though for this Christmas time of the year.

To create one of these cube’s you need to submit the photo’s and make sure they are at least 300 dpi. Also it would be wise to make sure the images submitted are square as any other dimensions would get cropped and make people look strange. Each cube costs 30 dollars and takes around 2 – 3 weeks to be delivered.

Wireless Power

Wireless power has been on my “want” list for a long time. I imagined just being able to put something in a room and it some how gets power. This is now becoming a reality. When you look behind the TV you always see a mass of electrical cables, ariel’s and other cables. Networking is becoming wireless, so these wires have been removed almost. However, there is a mass supply of power leads ranging from yout TV, DVD player, VCR, Cable box, Networking and sometimes others too. Over the last year or so we have seen mobile phone chargers that work by placing the phone on it. This new system takes it a step further by being able to charge devices over a distance away of many metres.

The system is just theory now and has not been built yet. With the help of computing power they believe it will work. It works using resonance which causes an object to vibrate when a certain frequency is applied. What this means is that anything compatible in a room will automatically charge such as a laptop you are working on can be kept powered by this resonance.

It seems like we truly can become wireless eventually.

Gamma Watch

Gamma Watch
On the subject of medical type stuff, we now have the gamma watch. Basically it’s a watch that can detect gamma waves and show radiation levels around you. Very handy if you live next to a nuclear power plant. If not, then it might not be as useful.

The watch costs 250 dollars and does also tell the time 🙂

Luminetx VeinViewer

Vein Viewer
Have you ever wanted to see your own veins? Now you can with the Luminetx VeinViewer. The VeinViewer looks to be quite a cool machine/device which can be used for when you need an injection. A light source emits an infra red (or close to infra red) beam and this gets bounced back by tissue surrounding the vein. A video camera then captures the reflected light and processes the image and projects it back on to the skin. You can then see an overlay of your veins.

More information can be found at the link below.
