According to Francis's weblog a friend decided to fix a broken iPod shuffle and it ended up in flames and melting half the case. I have no clue it's it's true or not, but still worth a read and a look at the pics for a good laugh.

Dvorak Uncensored are reporting that a new device designed to block didigtal cameras in secure areas has been created by the Georgia Institute of Technology. The device uses off the shelf components such as a sensor, projector and a laptop and then scan for digital cameras and neutralise them. The system works by scanning for image reflections from the sensors used in cameras.
I am not sure this will be as swish I was expecting… rather then a burst of light from the projector to blank out the pictures as they are taking. Still cool though!

The iTan ITN-VR10 is a set of headphones which have a twist. Your normal ones that you have used since you were a young child played music… thats all really. However, these new headphones have built in vibration meaning you can also feal the noises in your ears.
Sony have launched a new laptop which includes a Blu-Ray drive. The small Sony monsters screen is 17″ and capable of 1,920 x 1,200 WUXGA+ on an XBrite Display. It includes 200Gb storage space, 2.0Ghz Duo Core processor and weighs just 8.4 pounds. The Blue-Ray drive is writeable at 1x speed which isnt exactly great, but this is the first in it’s class… so you cant really complain at that one! Unfortunatly the battery life is a mere 2 hours which isnt good at all. However, this laptop is a good step forwards and will open doors to others following.
Nintendo have launched the DS 1-Seg TV Tuner (compatible on Japanese TV networks only!!!). This device is very small and fits in to the cartridge slot on the DS.
For those in Japan… this is a great deal at just $89 USD.

Sharp have displayed the 905SH DMB phone for Japan. This is a 3G phone also integrates One Seg terrestrial TV broadcasts.
As seen in the picture the screen has the ability to rotate 90 degrees which allows you to view TV in widescreen format. The screen is a nice 2.6″ ASV LCD which is good for a wide viewing angle I guess to the family can sit around ;)… more then likely it will be better then the average LCD’s found in phones which tend to go dodgy when viewing from a slight angle.

Wixzer have launched the WXP350 PMP which has a built in 1.3M camera, 20 or 30Gb drive, comes with a 4 inch widescreen display and runs Windows CE 5.0. The device looks like another decent contender in the market and it will be insteresting seeing how this actually performs.

Someone (Marshall) has built an N64 named the L64 and has provided instructions on how he built the games machine. It’s rather bluky as it’s an N64 chopped up and put in a smaller case with a screen and battery. Still good fun to read through.
