Addictaball Finally Arrives in the UK

Addictaball is the UK version of what the US call Superplexus. It’s a handheld puzzle game that requires you carefully manoeuvre a ball bearing around a 360 degree puzzle along a pre determined track.

Addictaball comes in two different sizes with the larger one measuring 19cm in diameter and the smaller, 13cm that’s aimed to be an on the road type game (obviously not while travelling as it’s hard enough sitting still to navigate the ball around the maze).

it takes serious hand-eye co-ordination to steer your ball through Addictaball’s handily numbered sections (138 sections for the large, 100 for the small). We guarantee you’ll be cursing this unputdownable sphere’s devious nature and pulling faces worthy of a champion gurner in under a minute

Sony 3D HDTVs Announced

Sony have announced 12 new full HD TV’s in their Bravia range, some of which are 3D TVs. The Sony Bravia LX900, HX900 and HX800 series are each backlit by LED and have full 3d HDTV capabilities with those attending the press event describing them as being “beautiful”.

Interesting features of the LX900 series include a new Intelligent People Sensors mode that uses a built in camera on the TV to detect were viewers are sitting in the room and the system adjusts the sound to match their location. As well as dealing with sound the Intelligent People Sensors also adjusts brightness in that it can detect when the viewer just has the TV on in the background rather than directly watching it… in these cases the picture will dim to save power. When it detects that no viewers are in the room the TV will automatically switch off to again, save a bit more power. Lets just hope that Sony have got this right!!! [Read more…]

Hornby Digital Sound Spruces up the regular Train Set

Hornby, the train set makers, have created Hornby Digital Sound that brings locomotive noises to each individual train. The old system made it’s sounds from a single box located near the model railway tracks, but now each train that has the Hornby Digital Sound system built in has it’s own speaker that can emulate sound far better.

The trains also have a system built in that can change the sound effects as they travel around the track. If the train goes through a tunnel then the noise will be more echoed just like it would should a full sized train go through a tunnel.

Several new trains have the new Hornby Digital Sound system already installed which includes the LNER Herring Gull class A4 that costs £234.99. Others include the Diesel Electric Class 50 Illustrious that costs £209.99 and finally the Diesel Electric Class 60 The Hundred of Hoo that costs £209.99. Various models are available at Amazon that also are a little cheaper in price. [Read more…]

Nintendo Gameboy Ring

There isn’t much information about this Nintendo Gameboy ring around the internet. That said, it appears to be made of clay (possibly) and from what we see in the photo found on flickr, it has plenty of detail although it’s safe to assume it doesn’t actually function as a Gameboy… but you already knew that.

As far as I am aware the Nintendo Gameboy ring is not for sale and was custom built by someone who just loves the old handheld games machine. [Read more…]

Huge SD Photo Card only Holds 60 Photos

Normally in the tech industry we see gadgets that shrink in size such as memory cards getting smaller but having much higher capacities. This time the sequence has reversed with this SD card being made huge but also being restricted in what it can hold… ie, just 60 pictures.

If you haven’t figured it out already then you will notice it’s actually just a photo album designed to look like an SD card. It’s capacity, measured in plastic wallets I guess, is capable of holding 60 pictures inside it. The 60 photos it can holds each measure the traditional 4 x 6 inches. [Read more…]
