Death Star Blue Prints Revealed

Ever wanted to build your own Death Star or perhaps a Light Sabre or Darth Vader mask? This book is for you. The Star Wars Blue Prints book provides all the details you need on how to build all of the above items. Of course you’ll need quite a large factory (about the size of a small moon) if you want to build a full operational Death Star as well as means to get it up in to space, but forgetting the small obstacles you’ll have all you need to get going.

It actually looks like quite an interesting book for times when there isn’t much going on and well worth paying the $14 or so dollars for someone’s Christmas present (although if you are still shopping now then you’ll have to pay for next day shipping to get it on time). [Read more…]

Cyber Quad VTOL Drone

cyberquad1This flying object is built by an Australian company called Cyber Technology and is capable of vertical take off and landing. The Cyber Quad as it’s called has four ducted fans to provide lift to fly it around as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. As well as being able to fly around it does have a real use in that a HD camera is attached that can beam back live video from locations it is scouting out.

One recent example was when it was used on an oil platform where the Cyber Quad was flown in to capture video of what was happening and any damage that had been caused. It is capable of flying for about 40 minutes on a single charge, but as it’s easy to manoeuvre it can easily be perched on a pad so that the camera can be moved around while the Quad isn’t flying to save battery life. Objet Geometries Connex RP Samples

objet_geometriesWe have received a few samples of printed objects in the past from Objet Geometries and each time we get samples we are more impressed with what they achieve. Out of the 3 or so samples we have received each one is slightly more advanced than the previous 3D print allowing for various types of plastics to be used on a single pass.

At Core77, Objet Geometries were demonstrating some printed objects which were just fantastic it has to be said. Objects ranged from a set of wheels with soft rubber tires that had working suspension and a rigid frame work. What makes it more impressive is that everything was printed with a single pass. Basically you feed the machine with a type of CAD file that contains the 3D data and plastic data and it prints the object out for you. [Read more…]
