Kensington Travel Plug Adapter

kensington-tpaFor the frequent traveller, power is a requirement to keep your gadgets full of juice. The problem is that there are a number of different type of wall sockets across the many countries around the globe. This very handy travel plug adapter is built by Kensington and is compatible with sockets in over 150 countries around the world. The plugs slide out of the barrel-type device and all you need to do is choose which plug you need, slide it out and plug it in to the wall. It is capable of powering many types of devices from laptops to mobile phones.

For safety there is a built in quick release button as well as a fuse to protect from electrical faults. The adapter is a fairly good bargain too as it costs just $19.99. Considering the amount of space it will save that is a very good price.

It is compatible with 2.5A; 110V – max 275W; 220V – max 550W. Please remember that it is not a power converter. It is up to you to know how much voltage is output at the wall in the country you visit. However, a good number of electronic devices these days are compatible with 110V – 240V. Just be sure to check the power supply you are connecting to it.

Lowrider Bike with Hydraulics

Lowrider-Bike
Many of you will have seen the bouncing cars in rap videos, or the competitions that run to see who can get their car to bounce the highest. However, one thing I have never seen is a pedal bike with air suspension built in to raise it up. This “lowrider bike” sports all the usual lowrider type gear such as the many spoke wire wheels and the most important part, the air suspension which allow it to move up and down. You must check out the videos after the jump to see the lowrider bike in action. They are class! The second video also has flames coming out the back.

Cocaine Mule Companion Bags

cocaine-mule-companion-bagsThe Cocaine Mule companion bags come in a set of 4. The main bag has 3 other smaller ones to accompany it which measure 9″, 6″ and 3″ inch. What separates these bags from your usual type of shoulder bags are the intuitive modularity that allows them to connect together. The straps have magnets and Velcro attached which allows for the bags to be attached together keeping everything in 1, but yet, all things separate. Rather then me trying to explain, check out the diagram below.

Static Electricity Eliminator

static_electricity_eliminatorIf you have ever touched a car and received a static shock, you will understand how frustrating it is. When it happens nearly all the time you start being scared to shut the door with your hand and instead, kick it shut. The static discharge is due to electrons being built up in your body while moving around and once in there, they need discharging. Discharging through others, a door, or another electronic device usually happens. ThinkGeek are now offering a static electricity eliminator (SEE) which you carry on your keyring. If you believe you are charged then you whip the SEE out of your pocket, hold it against something that is earthed like a car, radiator, metal desk leg etc… and a little LCD display lets you know when you have been discharged. The cool feature about it is that no batteries are required as the static charge in your body gives it enough power to give you a status.

The SEE costs $9.99 and is available from here.

Hydrogen RC Car – Fits Regular Tamiya Chassis

hydrogen-rc-car
I have see a few cool Hydrogen powered gadgets around over the last year or so. This latest one appears to be the latest and greatest one though. It costs $1500 which isn’t cheap, but the kit does fit in to a Tamiya TT-01 type chassis. The fuel cell is named the FCJJ-21 and has a 30W air-cooled PEM fuel cell. Fuel is stored in 3 10L metal hydride canisters.

You may wonder why you would want to fork out $1500 for a power source like this. Well, this fuel cell can power your RC car at good speed for over an hour. The most you normally get from an RC charge is up to 15 minutes when using Nimh batteries.

I cannot wait for this to drop in price as it would be great to play with RC cars for more then 15 minutes.

Deli Touch – Automated Food Ordering

deli-touch
If you struggle to impress your date with your ease of ordering up a foreign meal, then a restaurant using Deli Touch might be your better option. Deli Touch is a device which uses wireless technology to connect to the restaurants kitchen. When ordering, you touch the pen on to the menu on the items you wish to order. The pen has a camera which scans the codes and the wireless features transmit this data to the kitchen. Once the order has been placed a voice confirms that all is OK and a few minutes later your food arrives.

Apparently this technology has been around in Japan for a while, but this new version has more user friendly menu’s that cater more towards the elderly. The system comes with 1 server, 30 pens and a printer and costs 45000 YEN a month for rental which equates to about $416 which is not bad at all. That is actually cheaper then a waiter although they would need a robot to bring the food out to you. Maybe that’s next year.

The Solar Power Ferris Wheel costs $39.95 and is available from Scientifics.

Pedalite Pedals

pedped
Using your bike on a busy road at night can be lethal if you are not brightly lit up. Drivers just do not always notice a cyclist and that can be fatal. The Pedalite Pedals aim to increase your bike’s visibility by lighting up the edge of your pedals. A nice feature about the Pedalite pedals is that they use kinetic energy to light up the bright LED’s which can stay lit for up to 5 minutes after you stop pedalling. When you pedal away the energy created is sufficient to keep them lit meaning no batteries are needed, ever. Three of these LED’s are built in to the pedal with one at the back, one on the front and one on the outer side.

pedped

Features

* A set of two 360° visibility bicycle pedals.
* Orange, red and white lights flash from the front back and sides of the pedals.
* The lights are battery-free, powered only by kinetic energy as you cycle.
* The Pedalites store a small charge as you cycle so the lights continue to flash for up to 5 minutes when you have stopped pedalling.
* The lights are visible from 1km away.
* The Pedalites themselves are durable and non-slip.
* Each Pedalite has 2 rows of supergrip studs for safe pedalling.
* The Pedalites screw-in in replacement of your bike’s existing pedals.
* Requires a spanner and screwdriver for application (not included).
* Suitable for ages 8 years+ (an adult must attach the Pedalites to the bike).
* Size: 12 x 9.5 x 3cm (per pedal).

The Pedalite Pedals cost £34.99 and are a must for those wanting to avoid a potential accident at night.

Now you can cheat at Powerball

dynaflex_dock
The Powerball is a gyroscopic exercise tool which is used to build hand and finger strength. It works by moving your wrist in a circular motion. Getting the powerball started it an art form in it’s self and then comes the harder part of keeping the motion going and speeding the thing up. If you are in the former category and struggle to even get the powerball moving right then this powerball docking station will sort you out. It’s a device which allows you to cheat as it rotates the powerball for you so you can just pick it up and get exercising. The scary part is how fast this thing can spin the ball. It actually allows for speeds up to 18000 RPM which is quite frankly a mental speed.

If you are not sure what 18K RPM feels like then this video shows a record attempt of someone hitting 16081 RPM. Check out the forces it puts on this guy holding it at that speed.

The Powerball Docking station costs $59.95 and includes a powerball with it.
