Silver Spoon Cadillac

silver-spoon-cadillac
This Cadillac was decorated with 5000 silver spoons. Cleaning must be a problem as he would need to polish each and every spoon which would take a serious amount of time.

Edit:
OK… Thanks to Brian’s comment below (and a read of the licence plate) you can in fact see that it’s Uri Geller. That would explain why all the spoons are bent.

Wheelman takes you Surfing, Boarding and Skating

Wheelman
Wheelman is a great two wheeler skating type device which features a mini 43cc 2 stroke engine on board which can take you up to speeds of 19mph. You attach your feet to the wheels and speed away for about 90 minutes on one tank of fuel. There is no automatic fuel pump and this part of the engine is fuelled by squeezing a pneumatic ball in your hand. Steering is done by leaning the direction you want to head.

Although it is not a brand new gadget device, it is still new to me which made me figure it will be new to a lot of you 🙂

Grand Orrery – Mechanical Clockwork Universe

grand-orrery
This 18th century device is an incredible piece of kit. When looking at the side you see a model of inner planets. When looking from above that changes and you see a complex clockwork mechanism.

For those of you who are not sure what an Orrery is… it is a mechanical model built to show the alignment of planets and moons. In the centre of the Orrery you tend to find the Sun which then has arms which rotate mechanically around it on arms.

Automatic Bollards in Manchester cause Problems

I came across this video a few months back but forgot to post it. The bollards are in Manchester and drop down to allow busses and other permitted vehicles through on to the street. People either miss the bright red signs or think they can out run them.

Next time you see automatic bollards in the UK, do not go through them 😉

Radialstrahler Speakers

Radialstrahler Speakers
The Radialstrahler Speakers from MBL are a huge $180,000 to purchase. Named the 101 “X-treme” they create a unique 3D sound to match up with what you would hear in a concert hall. To do this, sound waves are radiated in all directions rather then the more conventional one direction. The system takes about 1 month to build and will be launched at CES in January 2008. The platform is made of carbon fiber, aluminium, steel, acrylic and wood. In total the setup weighs a massive 3600 pounds.

European Stealth Fighter

Euro Stealth Fighter
The Lampyrudae or Firefly was Germany’s attempt at a stealthy fighter plane. It was developed by Messerschmitt-B¶lkow-Blohm (or MBB). The shape was designed so that it would minimise radar reflection. In 1987 the project was cancelled. A number of tests were performed on smaller models in wind tunnels as well as low speed models were created. A 3/4 scale version was flown 15 times in 87 in the wind tunnel.

Worlds Thinnest Pedometer
A pedometer is a device which tracks how many steps you take while walking or running around. Most of them attach to your belt or stay in your pocket and they tend to be a little fat. This uber thin version is just 3mm thick and can either slide in your pocket or wallet. It also has a laser-tuned sports timer inside.

Available at TaylorGifts costing just $29.98.

Life Clock has LCD People

life_clock
The Life Clock is a unique idea which has little LCD people living inside it. It works as an alarm clock and from what the translation says, the people living inside turn out how you are. If you are sloppy and get up late then they will turn that way. If you get right out of bed then they will become more affluent. It costs just $31 from Amazon in Japan.

Monster Cycle stands 15 Feet Tall

monstercycle
This huge monster cycle stands at 15 feet tall (maybe 2 and a bit times the height of the average person). What makes it cooler is that it’s fully ride-able (drivable?) as the rider sits in a cage behind the handlebars. It weighs 6500 pounds and took 3 years to make with a price tag of about $300k in spare parts. To see it in motion check out the video below. It’s now time for drivers to fear the riders.
