Melted Soldier Warbowl

WarBowl
Hands up who used to melt their plastic soliders for fun? Well, the design team at Mosley Meets Wilcox has created a novelty bowl simply by melting toy plastic soliders from a battle of waterloo set. Both French infantry and British artillery are used to create this unique war bowl.

Priced at $229 I would probably prefer to make this my self in the microwave as it would be a lot cheaper. But for those who want a bit of a unique accessory and dont quite have the heart to melt your own soldiers you can purchase it from gnr8.

If waterloo isnt your scene then other options are available including Knights and black and red ninjas.

Philips DECT Cordless Phone

Philips DECT
This cordless phone looks quite sleek and I thought it was worth showing on Gadget Venue, although there isnt much information about it at the moment. It was on show at CES this year and also won an award for innovation. The only other things we know is that up to 15 minutes of a phone call can be recorded, and it has a unique acoustic chamber.

Infiniti Around View Monitor

Infiniti Around View Monitor
For those of you who struggle to park your car then the Infiniti Around View Monitor is for you. It features 4 cameras around your car with 1 in the front, 1 at the back and 1 on each side. By stitching the images together you get a full view on a screen in your car so that you can see exactly where you are reversing to. The camera at the front will catch your attention as it is hidden until used and moves outwards by motor.

No details yet although you can check out the Youtube video below with a brief demonstration of the software.

Quad Core Laptops for when Dual Core is not enough

Quad Core Laptop
Core 2 Duo processors are quite quick in laptops, but Intel are still pressing forwards and hopefully early next year introducing the Penryn quad-core processor. Although no official benchmarks have been shown it has been described as a Core 2 Duo on steroids. Great 🙂 I like the sound of this processor. Along with a crazy type of speed this processor can run at, it will also generate a lot of heat which of course is a computers worst enemy. Although not much has been said, we can assume that it will need some kind of head reducing unit in there or to run more efficient. With the small space of a laptop, what ever it is will need to quickly get rid of the heat to keep it running at optimal performance.

StressLess WebCam – Vije T-UVC

StressLess WebCam
According to SavitMicro, the webcam can be a very stressful device to use. The thought of plugging in a Webcam and installing drivers is enough to make some people need councilling. To tackle this problem the StressLess webcam has been made. The stressful days are now over and the reason is because this webcam can plug in to almost any PC and just work with no drivers.

For those 99.9 percent of users who do not get stressed by installing a webcam then this might not be for you. However, it does support a 1.3 megapixel resolution and to be fair, can just plug in and work on virtually any PC which is actually a nice feature. It is worth checking out although I was being a bit sarcastic to begin with. Unfortunatly no pricing or details are available yet. Check back and we should have more details soon.

Waterproof Taka LCD Screen

Taka LCD TV
Taka wanted to proove that their LCD is fully waterproof, so they decided to display it in a fish tank. The Taka LCD Screen is a 17 inch wide screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 400:1 with a 16ms response time. I do not think that this screen is really that spectacular, but I do like how they presented it as it does get you to look more then once at the screen just sitting there under water.

The screen was on display at the Hong Kong Electronics fair and does look like a nice small contender to the market.

XBox Portable LCD Screen

XBox Portable LCD Screen
This isnt the best of ideas that I have come across. The XBox portable LCD screen fastens to the top of your 360 and has a 720p 12.1 inch TFT screen built in. Unfortunatly it requires that you use a seperate power source to power the screen as well as the XBox 360 PSU. Having to carry all this around just so you can play XBox games where ever you are seems a bit much in my honest opinion although I am sure some people may find a benefit of it.

It costs about $302 dollars which should be available in July.

BluEye – The Bluetooth Hands Free for iPod

BluEye iPod
BluEye is designed for the iPod and is compatible with your mobile phone. It seamlessly connects both devices together allowing you to listen to music and make and take calls through your iPod. When this device is connected to your iPod you then pair it up with your mobile phone. BluEye has a built in microphone allowing you to speak and the iPod headphones act as a speaker. When the call is finished the music resumes playing from where it left off. This device is one of those genius type devices. Mobile phones themselves can be ok for listening to music, but for some reason I personally just prefer my iPod for this. Being able to listen to music with out fear of missing a call is ideal, especially as I am on call and its crucual I do answer my phone when ringing.

The BluEye is not only a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver, but it also is capable of receiving FM signals so you can listed to radio stations over your mobile phone. Yet again, this is another smart move. The BluEye also allows you to store your favourite 15 stations. One last cool feature is that it works as a remote control for your iPod. Being designed in White it fits in well with the style of the iPod and makes the device look like it was meant to be there.

Very Cool Collapsible Webcam

Collapsible Webcam
This Webcam is an excellent idea that has been created. As can be seen in the picture above, the camera is collapsible and folds up to make it easier for transporting. The camera will fit on a laptop or work as a stand alone camera. It has 4 bright LEDs built in and the camera works at 300k pixels. Resolution runs at 640 x 480 and video can be captured at 30 frames per second.

When folded up the camera is just a fraction of the size. As well as being used as a webcam this camera can be used as a security camera too catching motion and recording to your computer.

Sharp Advanced Mobile Screens

Sharp
The small mobile screens have come along way over the last few years from the days of the Nokia 7650 and on to the more current N80 and N95 phones. However, Sharp still see room for improvement and have introduced a 2000:1 contrast ratio screen. This is currently the highest available on a mobile. Also it has an 8ms response time which is 3x faster then the screens avalable today. Looking at the picture above you can see a huge difference in quality.

As well as having a better contrast ratio and faster response times, the viewing angle will also be very nice at 176 degrees allowing others to see the screen more easier. We expect to see the screens become available in the next few months, so look out for the better screen quality on new released phones.

Pantech SKY IM-R200 Slider with LCD Slider

Pantech SKY IM-R200
The IM-R200 built by Pantech is a unique slider phone. In this case the slider is an LCD keypad which hasnt been seen before on a phone that I remember. Appart from the fancy slider the phone has a 2 mega pixel camera, QVGA screen, 116MB memory which can be increased via microSD and plenty of audio options which are standard on most phones these days.

Unfortunatly this phone will more then likely not leave South Korea. If the LCD slider is for you then its better you move over there.

Jaty Leisure Navi-Phone

Jaty Leisure Navi-Phone
The Jaty Leisure Navi-Phone is currently concept at the moment and will be named the GPS-L2000. It has GPS functionality built in which accomodates for Sea, Mountain and car as well as having a number of POI built in. The screen is 3.2 inch LCD which is touch screen. USB for fast transfer of files is included and a mini SD card slot to allow the memory to be increased.

As well as having some cool GPS features the phone also is capable of playing MP3 music, has an electronic dictionary and DMB TV which is an optional extra.

It actually looks like a really cool phone although it seems like it might only be coming available in Korea.
