3D TV’s With No Specs Around the Corner

3dtv3D is becoming a big thing since a plethora of 3D screens and graphics cards were revealed over the last year. When ever people think of 3D they think of the red and blue cardboard specs that you had to wear when watching Jaws 3D back in the 80’s. These more modern days we now see rather cool looking dark glasses which are more acceptable but still a pain if you ask me. For this reason a company have been working on a 3D TV that requires no special glasses at all and allows you to just sit and watch. [Read more…]

Sharp to Launch a 5 Color LCD TV – 99% Reproduction of Colors

sharp-lcdLCD TV’s tend to use a 3 color setup which includes red, green and blue to reproduce an array of colors on screen. Sharp have decided to up the number of primary colors used from the traditional 3 to 5 colors. The 2 extra colors to be used are cyan and yellow which can now reproduce 99% of all visible colors on the screen. Sharp call the system Multi-Primay-Color Technology which will be integrated in to their line of LCD TV’s soon.

The reason Sharp went with a 5 color setup was because regular 3 color setups have difficulties recreating certain blues and other variations needed to make a nice picture. One problem of using more colors is that power consumption also jumps up. Sharp have managed to fix this by making the backlight more economical which has levelled consumption back to the normal range. [Read more…]

With the whole process being simplified it could mean we start seeing flexible screens sooner rather then later. [Read more…]

Human-Rh Digital Photo Frame with TV

digital-photo-frame-tv-tunerDigital Photo Frames tend to be kind of boring due to them sitting there just displaying pictures which makes them all the same. Occasionally a slightly nicer interface is available or you might find one that can receive images via email… but they are still boring. This latest one could possibly change that by introducing a DTV tuner that allows you to use the frame as a mini TV.

Android Embedded in to Digital Photo Frame

Fujitsu and Macnica have been working jointly on a project that puts Google Android’s OS on to a digital photo frame. From what looks to be mad reasoning a closer looks actually makes me think this could end up being a good thing. The Android OS was originally designed to be used on a mobile phone. It was then ported over to a netbook and then now on to a digital photo frame. You see, the main problem with digital photo frames is that the UI is generally rubbish. If Android makes the user experience far better then I am all for using Android on a photo frame. Using that OS also makes it possible to do other things with the photo frame like easier integration with online services. [Read more…]
