3D is getting some serious attention this year with many screen manufacturers looking towards creating their own 3D TV’s. Samsung have revealed their latest plasma screen that measures just 29mm in thickness. This fancy looking HDTV is named the 850 PAVV and is capable of full 1080p playback. Other features on this TV include DivX support as well as a USB 2.0 port.

Samsung have put a lot of work in to this TV. The TV is 40% more efficient in power then the previous versions and also is 20% lighter at a weight of 26kg. Packed inside the TV is Samsung’s Full HD Crystal Engine as well as DLNA support and 240Hz refresh rates.

A larger 58 inch version is also being made available also the depth and other specs are unknown at the moment.

Of course you could just go for a portable digital tv that isn’t big in size either… although it might not quite look right on your wall.

Touchscreens have advanced a lot over the last few years. As technology has advanced they seem to be more easier to use and a lot more responsive. Mix this with faster processors and faster operating systems you then get an even smoother scrolling and functioning system. However, they are still not quite where they need to be. For example, sending a text message on a mobile phone with only a touchscreen can be quite a pain. Pico Projectors are about the size of a mobile phone and are capable of projecting a 50 – 60 inch screen in a darkened room. Beambox have created their version of the Pico which has a brightness level of 30 lumens. It is named the Evolution R-1 pico and promises up to a 100 inch sized screen.

The Evolution R-1 Pico uses an LCoS chip that displays a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. A mixture of this slightly higher resolution and a 30 lumens brightness make it one nice little projector. The LCoS chips use tiny liquid crystals that are applied to the surface of a silicone chip. This allows for higher resolutions with more contrast on regular DLP projectors.
