Concept SLIQ-phone

SLIQ Phone
The concept SLIQ phone is very SLIQ. It has no keyboard, keypad and works with an improved sensory interface. The phone is just 10mm thick, has a nice LCD display and has a 2 megapixel camera built in. My personal opinion on this is that it does look cool. I am not fully convinced on the use of touch screens as interfaces though. They work ok on a Pocket PC as you use a stylus for them, but for a mobile phone I am not 100% convinced yet. I do hope the iPhone and SLIQ (If it becomes real) do change my mind.

The phone has some other nice features too such as a dual camera which allows for making video calls as well as pictbridge technology. Memory can be enhanced through a microSD slot. I like the look of this phone and its use of OLED technology ads a nice twist to the phone. Another picture is available after the jump.

Eye-Tracking Device watching your moves

Minority Report
This next item reminds me of the minority report where your eye gets scanned and the store knows who you are, what you like and displays ads to suit. The eyebox2 was created by a Canadian professor who developed a system to count how many people looked at his ads. It uses infra red and recognises the familiar red-eye effect found in photos. By emitting infrared the system can track what you are looking at while walking around a store and exactly what shelf you looked at or what screens you looked at. It can scan from up to 10 meters away and about 2 – 3 meters horizontally too.

Nintendo Gameboy XP PC

Nintendo Gameboy XP PC
If you think back a good 15 years you will remember the Nintendo Gameboy hitting the shelves. Like me, you had to get your hands on this cool handheld gaming device. Before the Gameboy was launched I was used to game and watch LCD type games. Having the ability to play different games was something that amazed me. I seem to remember the gameboy cost 69.99 pounds with Tetris although ours was free as my sister won it in a packet of crisps.

Anyway, I came across this Gameboy today which has been hacked apart and fitted with a fully fledged PC inside its case. It has a VGA port, 2 USB ports and runs from a 4GB compact flash card which can boot in to Windows XP. No screen is included, but we assume that you use the USB ports for connecting a mouse and keyboard. More pictures after the jump.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S800

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S800
The DSC-S800 is Sonys latest Cyber-Shot camera which features an 8.1 megapixel CCD and a 2.5 inch TFT LCD. The lens is quite powerful as it is a 6x optical zoom. Speed of the camera is rated up to ISO 1250 which allows you to capture fast moving action quite well. As well as the 6x optical zoom the camera has 12x digital zoom with macro mode. Overall it seems to be a well balanced camera with features for most situations. One more picture after the jump.

German LCD Shift Knob

Shifter Knob
This gear knob has an LCD display in the top of it to let you know what gear you are in. I am not sure how handy this could be as I cannot remember the last time I actually looked at the gear stick while I was driving. I guess it will appeal to the Fiat Punto or Vauxhall Corsa driver as they like the extra lights and flashy interior more then the average person. But, it does add another gadget to your vehicle so I thought it would be worth a mention.

It is priced at $169 which to be quite honest, is a bit crazy. Never mind, I am going to pass on this one 🙂

Griffin iTrip 2G and iTalkPro

iTrip
iTrips are handy little devices that connect to your iPod and transmit an FM signal to a nearby radio. This cuts out the need for cables and allows you to more easily use it in your car. The first iTrip was quite fiddly to work with as you had to download a ton of MP3s from the CD which contained beeps and then play the corresponding beeps for the frequency that you wanted. The iTrip 2 has solved this problem by having an LCD screen on the device and a small switch to the side which can be used to scroll through the frequencies. An extra assistance is given in finding a clear more available frequency which comes in handy for those in a city where a lot of radio stations are broadcasting and filling up the frequencies. The iTrip is available in black and white and is also available for the Nano.

Waterproof Taka LCD Screen

Taka LCD TV
Taka wanted to proove that their LCD is fully waterproof, so they decided to display it in a fish tank. The Taka LCD Screen is a 17 inch wide screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 400:1 with a 16ms response time. I do not think that this screen is really that spectacular, but I do like how they presented it as it does get you to look more then once at the screen just sitting there under water.

The screen was on display at the Hong Kong Electronics fair and does look like a nice small contender to the market.

XBox Portable LCD Screen

XBox Portable LCD Screen
This isnt the best of ideas that I have come across. The XBox portable LCD screen fastens to the top of your 360 and has a 720p 12.1 inch TFT screen built in. Unfortunatly it requires that you use a seperate power source to power the screen as well as the XBox 360 PSU. Having to carry all this around just so you can play XBox games where ever you are seems a bit much in my honest opinion although I am sure some people may find a benefit of it.

It costs about $302 dollars which should be available in July.
