Google Voice App Supports iPad and iPod touch

Those with an Apple iOS device such as the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, now have access to the Google Voice app. Prior to this launch, the Google Voice app was only available for the iPhone.

The app is compatible with the iPad and iPod but all features are not available such as the ability to make voice calls as described below…

While you can’t use your iPod or iPad as a phone, you can use it to initiate Google Voice calls with your phones. We call this feature Click2Call. Simply click any ‘Call’ button in the Google Voice app on your iPod or iPad and then select which of your phones you want to ring. Google Voice will call your phone and then connect your call.

SimCity for iPad Now Available

SimCity for the iPad has finally launched. The game has been expected for a while now and has finally gone on sale.

The game was created by Electronic Arts and allows you to take control and build your own virtual city. This particular game has been available for the iPhone for a while now, but finally has been optimised to work better on the larger screen. [Read more…]

Amazon Windowshop iPad App Launches in Europe

Amazon has launched a new app for the iPad called Windowshop. The new app allows users in the UK, France and Germany to browse Amazon within an app rather than via the Safari browser.

The new layout in the app has been designed specifically for the iPad in that icons are spaced out more and the whole experience is more friendly for the touchscreen tablet. [Read more…]

Apple [AAPL] has posted a job listing that requests a Verizon iPad System Engineer. The location is in Cupertino, as expected, and the job role requires someone who has a technical background in Exchange, VPN as well as other enterprise solutions.

iPad Mini Rumors Resurface

Although Steve Jobs said there was no chance a smaller 7 inch iPad would be built, the rumors still wont die. We now hear from Reuters who cite an Asian manufacturing source who says a smaller, half sized iPad is currently being manufactured.

There aren’t any other rumors to accompany this one other than the source indicating that this particular model will sit right between the iPod touch and the regular iPad. Some features we can predict if this rumor ends up being true is that it will have a higher res screen as well as a couple of cameras one of which for FaceTime calls. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Case Points Towards Rear Camera

Some cases have started showing up for the iPad 2 over the last couple of days. All of them have a small hole on the top left (when viewed from behind) that indicates a camera is coming to the back of the device. The cases also have the same sections cut out that we see on cases for the current iPad… ie, the dock connector, speaker and volume buttons as well as power and headphones.

Things we noticed is that the speaker cut out is slightly larger than before, perhaps a larger speaker or something else is coming. There’s also no landscape dock connector on the iPad 2 case. [Read more…]

Google Docs Desktop Version for iPad Fully Supported

Google [GOOG] has enhanced Google Docs to be even more compatible with the iPad. Just a couple of weeks ago, Google made it possible to edit more with the iPad in the browser, but users were still restricted mostly to the mobile version of Google Docs.

These even later changes now make it possible to use the full desktop version on the iPad and benefit from all the features. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Front and Rear Cameras Hinted at Again

The iPad 2 rumors keep flowing in before its estimated release date. This time we hear more about the iPad 2 camera, or cameras as we learn. Certain sources are claiming that dual cameras will be included in the iPad 2 and that production will go ahead as expected in the first quarter of 2011.

Apple iPad Discounts on Refurbished Models

Apple [AAPL] has announced a limited time offer on the refurbished Apple iPad Wi-Fi only models. The company is adding a further $20 discount to the regular refurbished price on the 16GB model and a further $50 off the price of the 32 and 64GB models.

The offers are for a limited amount of time although that limited length of time is not specified. The refurbished models are given new batteries, new external shells and have a one year warranty which makes them practically brand new when you think about it (hopefully the screen is not beaten to death). iPad 2 to Begin Shipping Late February

DigiTimes is reporting today that Apple [AAPL] has notified Foxconn that the iPad 2 must begin shipping as early as the end of February 2011.

As the source is DigiTimes, it doesn’t 100% guarantee this is true although shipping at the end of February would tie in with an iPad 2 release date of perhaps, sometime early April which is 1 year after the launch of the original iPad. [Read more…]
