iPad gets Autodesk Fluid FX App

Autodesk is releasing a new app tomorrow for the iPad and iPhone called Fluid FX. The new app is based around Autodesk Maya that is used in films to create visual effects on screen. The app isn’t an exact clone of Maya as the desktop is obviously a lot more powerful, but Autodesk have got it to function quite well from what we see on the video (embedded below).

The application it’s self provides a way for you to easily manipulate photographs in a fluid type motion. It allows you to easily stretch a face around, change the shape of an object at the same time as keeping the textures looking right.

The apps on both the iPad and iPhone can detect up to 10 multi-touch inputs making the app easy and powerful to work with. [Read more…]

LG Struggling to Make Enough Screens for iPad

The Apple [AAPL] iPad has sold extremely well to the tune of 3.3 million units we heard earlier this week.

With that demand, LG is struggling to make enough screens to get the iPad on the shelves.

LG Display’s CEO yesterday said that LG had been unable to fulfil all orders for displays used in Apple’s new iPad, but promised ‘without failĀ to catch up with demand by Q2 2011.

The production lines are running at full capacity from what we hear and the demand from Apple keeps growing also. [Read more…]

Compass iPad Stand

Check out the Compass iPad Stand. The new stand is a little different to other stands in that it folds up relatively small so it can be easily carried around. It is made of heavy gauge steel that makes it strong.

The Compass iPad Stand can hold the iPad in portrait or landscape mode and also is capable of laying more flat on a table should you want to type on your iPad at a more comfortable position.

The iPad stand costs $39.99 which isn’t too bad although perhaps a tad too expensive for some people.

FaceTime Coming to iPod touch and iPad

FaceTime is currently only available on the iPhone 4 and only can be used when calling another iPhone 4 device.

Apple [AAPL] is bringing FaceTime to other devices though. The main question is based around how it will work though with iPod touch devices not having a phone number. BGR managed to get the details which show that your Apple ID will be registered with your device and when someone wants to connect with FaceTime to you, they simply use your email address.

By using push notifications it will allow incoming FaceTime requests to pop up on the iPod touch and other iDevices allowing calls to be initiated. [Read more…]

One of the websites readers decided to make the Pencil iPad Stand Reloaded which uses the same idea of using rubber bands to tie things together, but instead of pencils it uses aluminium rods cut to length that have their ends covered in Plasti Dip coating to protect the iPad getting scratched. Microsoft [MSFT] is looking for iPad users to join them at the MS Campus so the company can study how people use the iPad. In particular the company is looking for students to watch for a couple of hours so they can study how students interact with the iPad and how they work with it.

The information comes from a Facebook event page which asks users to visit the MS campus between July 16 and July 21 for the study. Each user will be watched for two hours and in return, they will get some sort of MS gift which we are guessing is an older Zune. [Read more…]

Barnes & Noble has updated it’s iPad app to now include brightness controls. It’s not the most exciting of updates to hit an iPad app, but it’s certainly a handy feature to be able quickly lower the screen brightness within the app rather than closing it out and going to the Settings menu to make the change.

A few other features have been added to the B&N iPad reader app which include…

* Option to permanently delete samples from within the app
* Two page view
* Speed improvements when synchronizing your purchases, bookmarks, highlights and notes
