iPad Mini Rumors Resurface

Although Steve Jobs said there was no chance a smaller 7 inch iPad would be built, the rumors still wont die. We now hear from Reuters who cite an Asian manufacturing source who says a smaller, half sized iPad is currently being manufactured.

There aren’t any other rumors to accompany this one other than the source indicating that this particular model will sit right between the iPod touch and the regular iPad. Some features we can predict if this rumor ends up being true is that it will have a higher res screen as well as a couple of cameras one of which for FaceTime calls. [Read more…]

Chrome OS Laptop Video Hid MENSA Puzzle – Solver gets Cr-48

Last week we posted a video of a bunch of new Google Chrome OS laptops being destroyed in various ways. To most people the message they would have got is that Chome OS is cloud based and you just get another Chrome OS device to carry on from where you left off.

Sylvain Zimmer had other ideas though. 2:24 in to the video an equation can be seen on a chalkboard in the background. Zimmer spent the whole day solving the puzzle which somehow equates to 19 16 05 05 04 01 14 04 04 05 19 20 18 15 25 when broken up and in his words, any geek could figure out that this says speedanddestroy. Entering those three words on the end of a goo.gl URL it took him to a page which told him he was the first to find the particular page and that because of this he could have a free Cr-48 laptop sent to him. iPad 2 Case Points Towards Rear Camera

Some cases have started showing up for the iPad 2 over the last couple of days. All of them have a small hole on the top left (when viewed from behind) that indicates a camera is coming to the back of the device. The cases also have the same sections cut out that we see on cases for the current iPad… ie, the dock connector, speaker and volume buttons as well as power and headphones.

Things we noticed is that the speaker cut out is slightly larger than before, perhaps a larger speaker or something else is coming. There’s also no landscape dock connector on the iPad 2 case. [Read more…]

Flash Problems Reported on Google Cr-48 Laptop

Engadget has reported some problems with the Adobe Flash plug-in running on the new Chrome OS laptop. They reported that YouTube and other flash based video content stutters a lot and that the plug-in keeps on crashing while using it.

Luckily, Adobe is aware of the issue and is working on a fix that will be pushed out to the OS automatically in the coming weeks. Once installed, it should sort out all the problems. It seems that Adobe is first focusing on getting video playback just right. [Read more…]

Google Docs Desktop Version for iPad Fully Supported

Google [GOOG] has enhanced Google Docs to be even more compatible with the iPad. Just a couple of weeks ago, Google made it possible to edit more with the iPad in the browser, but users were still restricted mostly to the mobile version of Google Docs.

These even later changes now make it possible to use the full desktop version on the iPad and benefit from all the features. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Front and Rear Cameras Hinted at Again

The iPad 2 rumors keep flowing in before its estimated release date. This time we hear more about the iPad 2 camera, or cameras as we learn. Certain sources are claiming that dual cameras will be included in the iPad 2 and that production will go ahead as expected in the first quarter of 2011.

The information comes from Reuters who managed to get together four sources of information relating to the iPad 2 cameras. [Read more…]

25 Chrome OS Computers Destroyed

Google [GOOG] has created a demonstration video on why cloud based computing is the way forwards. In the video you’ll see a number of Chrome OS laptops being destroyed and then replaced with new models. The user then logs in and carries on exactly where he left off… repeated several times.

The emphasis of the video is that all files you create are stored on the web so that if you switch computers then you already have access to everything you had on the previous Chrome OS laptop. [Read more…]

MacBook Air Display Fix Update Released by Apple

When Apple [AAPL] launched the new MacBook Air models recently, it was quickly reported on forums that the displays had a problem in some cases, with flickering. The temporary fix was to just close the lid down and reopen the lid which either put the MacBook Air to sleep, hence reloading it back up, or rebooting it. This kind of fix was just a temporary measure till Apple could get the drivers right.

Those drivers are now ready in an update and once installed, should fix those instances (perhaps rare instances) that this happens to your MacBook Air. [Read more…]
