Where all the weight will be saved is in the battery where Toshiba are going to be installing a new type of battery called an SCiB or super charged ion battery. Apple iPad 3G Gets Hacked up Vodafone SIM to work in UK

John Benson ordered an Apple iPad 3G in the UK that arrived from the US this week. When opening it up, it obviously had an AT&T microSIM that won’t work over here. The problem is that in the UK at the moment, microSIM’s are not available just yet so rather than waiting a month to use it, John took a knife to his Vodafone SIM and chopped off the plastic edges to make it in to a microSIM.

The U.K. resident was faced with a disparity in SIM cards once he received his iPad from over the pond, writing on his website, “This morning, my shiny new iPad 3G 64Gb arrived from the USA! The only problem was, it had an AT&T MicroSIM and as yet there is no such thing in the UK.”

Android Tablet Spotted in Android Booth at Web 2.0 Expo

Over at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, Adobe had a stand of products available that heavily pushed the Google [GOOG] Android platform. Zedomax was able to get a good look at various products including some very early tablets still in early form in that it was a circuit board with a screen attached encased in a transparent plastic.

The OS running on the tablets is believed to be Android 2.1 that ran Adobe Flash and Air apps. According to Zedomax, these ran completely flawlessly and were impressive enough to encourage the suggestion of holding off getting an Apple iPad and waiting till later this year for a slew of Android tablets to be launched.

It runs Adobe’s Flash and Air apps flawlessly. That was the first time I saw Adobe’s Air apps running on a tablet and totally impressed by how it ran. And now I can understand why Apple wants to ban Flash and other Adobe products completely from their iPhones and iPads, because it’s rather incredible technology.
