Toshiba Tecra M11 Launched with Core i3, i5 CPUs

Toshiba have announced the launch of the Toshiba Tecra M11 range of laptops. Toshiba describe these particular M11 laptops as being built for road warriors.

The design is kind of sucky and steps away from the more sleek looking laptops we are seeing this last year, but inside there’s a lot of power going on.

The screen on the Tecra M11 measures 14 inches. It’s a HD screen backlit by LED and has an anti-glare coating on it. It runs Windows 7 Professional. DDR3 memory can be found inside along with Intel Core processors ranging from the i3 to i5. [Read more…]

Apple iPad in UK Delayed till Late May

Loading up the Apple [AAPL] website in the UK the message on the front page has changed to now say the Apple iPad is coming Late May (rather than Late April).

We suspected this after hearing nothing in the way of pre-orders here in the UK with late April already fast approaching.

From what we understand, an announcement will be made on May 10th with details of the launch date and pricing for the device. Pre-orders will also start on May 10 as indicated on the Apple website. [Read more…]

Apple MacBook Pro Updated

Apple [AAPL] have updated their line of Apple MacBook Pro laptops today by introducing Core i5 and Core i7 processors in to the devices. Each screen size MacBook Pro has received a faster processor, next generation graphics and up to 10 hours of battery life.

Lets start with the Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch… this new MB Pro has new NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics built in that provides 80% faster graphics for the device. This model has a 10 hour battery life also.

Moving on to the 15 and 17 inch MacBook Pros, they now feature Core i5 and Core i7 processors as well as utilising both the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M for graphics along side the regular built in Intel HD graphics processors. The MacBooks are capable of automatically switching between graphics chips depending on the task at hand. This allows for better battery usage when using less intensive applications. [Read more…]

Google Mobile App Approved for Apple iPad

Apple [AAPL] have approved the Google Mobile App for the iPad. If you already had the Google Mobile App on your iPad previously, you would have noticed that it was pretty much a scaled up version. With the iPad version of the app now being official, it has been re done to fit the larger screen.

The new version is of course free to download. It features a My Location bar, but other than that it’s the same as the previous version. It gives access to a number of Google [GOOG] services such as GMail, Maps, Images, news, shopping etc… with some of the apps working within the app, and others kicking you out to the browser. This is the case with GMail for example. [Read more…]

WePad Tablet Pricing and Launch Details

We first mentioned the WePad a few weeks ago and from what we saw, we were quite impressed at the alleged specifications. The whole WePad device seems to revolve around doing things that the iPad cannot do. Features such as a camera have been included allowing for video calls to be made. An SD card slot has been included along with USB and the ability to multitask.

The WePad Tablet runs the Android operating system from Google [GOOG] and has access to the Android Marketplace to download applications.

Overall it looks quite impressive and we hope that the CPU and graphics chip are up to scratch making it run smoothly. Update: It has an Intel Atom N450 CPU and no NVIDIA although it does support full HD, so perhaps another quicker than Intel chip.

From what we hear there are a couple of versions with one being WiFi only costing ‚¬449. This will have 16GB of RAM. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Jailbreak by Geohot

Geohot has managed to Jailbreak the Apple iPad. The iPad runs iPhone OS 3.2 and within days of the iPad being launched Geohot managed to post the encryption keys on his site followed the day after by the image above showing Cydia and Blackra1n on the home screen of the iPad.

On the blog post about the encryption keys he simply says (after publishing the keys) that “This is more exciting than a lot of you realize.”

We should be hearing more soon about how it will all work, but from what we can gather, it will be an update to Blackra1n where you simply tether the iPad, load up Blackra1n and a few moment later your device will be jailbroke. [Read more…]

Google Tablet in the Works

Google [GOOG] are getting in to the tablet game by creating a Google Tablet. This particular tablet computer they will be making will run the Google Android OS rather than Chrome OS and from what we hear, it will be created by Google (or perhaps as the Nexus One is… created by HTC but sold exclusively by Google).

We have heard of Google Chrome OS based tablets previously, but from what we understand now, Google is actually planning on running Android on this particular tablet. It isn’t clear if they will just run plain old Android 2.1 for example, on the tablet where everything is just spaced out more on the screen, or if a specific Android Tablet Edition OS will be made. Apple iPad Component Costs now Estimated at $260

Back in February a company called iSuppli made estimates on how much each model of the Apple iPad would cost to make. From the report we found that potentially the 32GB WiFi+3G iPad could be the most profitable for Apple [AAPL]

Now that the iPad has launched, iSuppli have made some amendments to the numbers due to being able to get their hands on an actual iPad to see what exactly is inside.

The report now indicates that the 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad model will cost $259.60 vs $229.35 that was originally estimated. Reasons for the increase in component costs is due to more silicon chips being used than expected. For example, the touchscreen requires three chips to function correctly.

The increase is around $30 for the base model. The screen also was bumped up from $80 per device up to $95 per device after closer inspection of the hardware. [Read more…]
