Galaxy Tab 8.9 Teaser Video Released

We’ve seen a couple of teaser images before of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. What we now see is a few brief glimpses of the tablet device on a video created. There isn’t too much to see although it looks a little fatter than expected. There is no confirmation of a camera or flash although the image above does show on the top right of the device a small opening and larger opening which could be just that.

The video is below and shows the Tab 8.9 very briefly. The full and official unveiling will be held on March 22. We’ll have all the details and pictures when it gets announced. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Demonstrated

Over at AndroidHD, pictures and a few details of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 have been posted. The team managed to get hold of one for the day to see what it was all about and also give the rundown of how it performs and functions. With it being Android 3.0 Honeycomb, we’ve seen various aspects before of course… due to demonstrations done by Google and the fact that the Xoom has already been reviewed.

The video demonstration is just shy of 12 minutes long and shows a number of the features such as how email notifications are made, how to activate voice features and in general, how a lot of the functions work. [Read more…]

Samsung Invite Hints at Ultra Thin Galaxy Tab 8.9

Samsung has dropped another teaser in the form of an invite to a Samsung Mobile event being held on March 22 in Orlando FL.

This particular invite carries on the “What’s your Tab life? 78910” phrase which most people now think that means the 89 in the middle is referring to an 8.9 inch model of the Galaxy Tab. [Read more…]

ViewPad 10 from ViewSonic Now Available

ViewSonic has announced the ViewPad 10 is now available to purchase. The ViewPad 10 is a dual-boot tablet that runs both the Windows 7 and Google Android operating system. The benefits of this mean that the user can use one for entertainment while the other for business.

Powering the ViewPad 10 is an Intel Atom processor that is clocked at 1.66GHz. 2GB of memory is built in. The screen measures 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and if backlit by LED. Multitouch is also enabled on the device. [Read more…]

HTC Flyer Hits 1 Million Orders

The HTC Flyer was announced at MWC a few weeks ago. We now hear that 1 million orders have been made for the new Android 2.4 tablet computer which according to Digitimes, should see the company through to August this year.

1 million is a good milestone to reach although we need to wait to see what users actually want. It isn’t clear if they will prefer the larger 9 to 10 inch Android 3.0 tablets, or if the smaller Android 2.4 7 inch tablets will suffice. [Read more…]

Gmail Data Loss Now Fixed – Emails Back

Earlier this week, a small percentage of Gmail users had problems with ALL emails vanishing from the system. We now see that the update, as of this morning, that all should have returned to normal:

8.9 Inch Galaxy Tab Could Be Announced This Month

Samsung has emailed out details of an event being held on March 22. It is believed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be released here. Looking at the image below there’s a 78910 number which we believe indicates the 7 inch original, 8.9 inch new and the 10.1 inch new one that was announced a few weeks back.

WiFi Only Motorola Xoom to Cost £449.99 in UK

PC World in the UK will be selling the WiFi only model of the Motorola Xoom. It will be priced fairly reasonably at £449.99 which makes it cheaper than the WiFi only iPad that currently sells for £50 more. Of course, we have the iPad 2 announcement and along with that we could see prices drop slightly.

Unlike the iPad that comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, the Xoom comes with just one memory capacity of 32GB although this can be expanded. [Read more…]

Android Devices Can be Used as Second Monitor with iDisplay

iDisplay has been launched for Android OS based devices. What it does is allow you to use your Android smartphone or tablet as a secondary display for your computer. Once installed and connected, you can then drag windows on to the smaller screen such as a Skype conversation or perhaps a media player you want to be able to see but not clutter up your main screen.

To get it to work, you need to first download the app on your Android device and once installed, you then need to install some software on your Mac or Windows computer so that your Android smartphone/tablet can hook up and get the data it needs. [Read more…]

Motorola Xoom 4G Upgrade Details

Earlier this week we wrote that the Motorola Xoom was launching today and along side that launch, details of how to upgrade to 4G were being made available. Droid-Life managed to get hold of the details a little earlier that let us know what the requirements are.

The basic details indicate that the device ships 3G today. In about 90 days time, some time in May, Verizon will announce the 4G upgrade process is available. This will require that you ship your Motorola Xoom to them and in 6 or so days, they will update the hardware to 4G (free of charge) and also update the software. Once done, you’ll get the Xoom back and will be able to surf at 4G speeds. [Read more…]

Barnes and Noble Nook Owns 25% E-Book Share in US

Barnes & Noble has announced that the Nook eBook reader accounts for 25 percent of the eBook market in the US.

“We intend for Barnes & Noble to be a leader in the exploding market for digital content”. “We now represent 25 percent of the e-book market in the U.S., larger than our share in physical books. We sell twice as many e-books as all formats of physical books combined on BN.com.” [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Could be Unveiled in March

At MWC a few weeks back, we had the chance to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 being announced (device pictured above). We now hear rumors about Samsung releasing an 8.9 inch version that could potentially be called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.

This new model will sit right between the Android 2.2 Galaxy Tab (7 inch model) and the newly announced Android 3.0 Honeycomb Galaxy Tab 10.1. This new model will also run the Android Honeycomb operating system it is believed. This comes from the Android 2.X range being good for devices up to 7 inches in size, so the 8.9 model is likely to get Honeycomb. [Read more…]
