Toshiba Android Tegra 2 Tablet Announced

Plenty of tablet news out today in preparation for CES 2011. From what we see hitting news sites, it looks like Android Tablets willreally start to move in a good direction over 2011.

Next up is an announcement from Toshiba who has announced a Tegra 2 based tablet that has been designed to run Android Honeycomb when it launches.

The tablet has a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The screen is capacitive touch and uses “Adaptive Display technology”. Other sensors on this particular tablet includes an accelerometer and an ambient light sensor. [Read more…]

Third-Gen Amazon Kindle is All-Time Best Seller

Amazon has announced that the third-generation Amazon Kindle has now become the all-time bestseller at Amazon. The Kindle managed to beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that previously held the record.

The Amazon Kindle 3rd gen model is available in two different versions which includes a WiFi only model and a 3G+WiFi model. The 3G model lets you download books from anywhere you can get a 3G signal making it handy for those who like to download books and news whilst on the move. [Read more…]

HTC Scribe Android Honeycomb Tablet Details Leaked

HTC has filed for a trademark for a new device called the HTC Scribe. The name and specifications suggest that this particular device will be a tablet.

What we have heard about the HTC Scribe is that it will have 2GB of internal memory that can be expanded a further 32GB via a microSD card. It is rumored to have a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a size of about 10 inches. It isn’t clear at the moment if the screen will be capacitive or resistive. [Read more…]

Rooted Nook Color Gets Amazon Kindle App

Users of the Nook Color from Barnes & Noble now have an interesting way to read books. Rather than reading B&N books only, it is now possible to install the Amazon Kindle app on the Nook and use books designed for the Kindle on the Nook.

Achieving this requires that you root the Nook Color by installing an image on your microSD card. Once installed, you get the Kindle App for Android as well as several other Android apps such as YouTube, GMail and others. [Read more…]

Best Buy has discounted the Samsung Galaxy Tab on the Verizon network. The new price brings it down from $599.99 right down to $499.99. This price is for the Samsung Galaxy Tab off contract.

IN MEDIA Windows 7 Tablet Announced

IN Media has announced that it will be launching a new tablet in 2011. The tablet will be running the Windows 7 operating system and will run a 1.66GHz Intel Atom Processor. For storage it will use a hard drive with a capacity of 160GB.

A HDMI interface is included on the device allowing users to play content over a TV or projector. The device will have a 6 inch screen that is LCD which the company says brings Skype and Social Networking to a whole new level. We are not so sure at the moment what that actually means. [Read more…]

Amazon Kindle Sales Could Reach 8 Million in 2010

Amazon hasn’t provided sales figures in regards to the Amazon Kindle. However, estimations are hinting that the company could possibly sell a total of 8 million units by the end of this year.

A couple of months ago, estimations were hinting that around 4 million would be sold by the end of this year, so these new numbers seem to shed a bit of a different light on things. [Read more…]

NEC Dual Screen Android Tablet to Arrive at CES 2011

NEC will be unveiling a new dual screen Android OS based tablet at CES 2011 that is being held in a couple of weeks time. The new dual screen tablet will be called “The Cloud Communicator” and will have two 7 inch screens attached together with a hinge in the middle.

Each of the 7 inch screens will be touchscreen. Other features include WiFi, Bluetooth as well as 3G for connectivity. Although both screens are touchscreens, it isn’t known at the moment what type of touch technology they will use. Hopefully both will be capacitive and the provided stylus will be an active stylus to make it compatible with that technology. [Read more…]

Fujitsu T580 Tablet PC Now Available

Fujitsu has launched the T580 Tablet PC recently. The tablet was previously marketed as a slate-beater device.

Features of the Fujitsu Tablet include a 10 inch screen that has a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The display is backlit by LED and uses a dual-digitiser that works capacitive with your fingers or with an active pen that is provided. Up to four points of contact can be made with the tablet PC. ViewSonic G Tablet Has No Manufacturing Defect

Yesterday, Staples announced that they were stopping selling the ViewSonic G Tablet due to what they called a “manufacturing defect”. A number of blogs, including ours, spread the news around.

This seems to have caught the attention of ViewSonic who have now issued a press release which doesn’t say there is a hardware defect, but instead simply says that an update is being pushed out over WiFi that will fix a few problems that customers have been seeing. [Read more…]

Dual-Screen Kno Tablet Begins Shipping Today

The dual-screened Kno Tablet will be shipping today to those that got a pre-order in for it.

The tablet has two screens that each measure 14.1 inches each although there is a 14.1 inch single screen version also being made available.

Price wise, Kno expect students (who the tablet is targeted at), to pay up to $900 for the dual screen version. [Read more…]

Motorola Tablet with Android 3.0 at CES 2011

Motorola has created a video teaser called the “Tablet Evolution”. The ad is preparing for the unveiling of the Motorola Android 3.0 tablet and explains that it will be revealed at CES 2011.

The video starts by showing various tablets from thousands of years ago and says they are too heavy to carry around and have low res screens. Moving on a few thousand years to now, the iPad is next in line that is described as a giant iPhone… a couple of times. [Read more…]
