Fusion Garage JooJoo Getting Relaunched

Last week, Fusion Garage confirmed that the JooJoo was being killed off to make space for a new focus, ie, the JooJoo 2.

PlayBook vs iPad Browser Tests

RIM has created a side-by-side comparison of the BlackBerry PlayBook and Apple iPad. The comparison runs tests on browser speed to see which of the two tablets performs best on loading up particular websites.

To make sure the test was fair (other than RIM doing the test of course), they cleared the cache of the browser to make sure each device was pulling down fresh data from the webservers. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Price Dropped in UK

Samsung in the UK is dropping the price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Prices over here in the UK range from between £600 – £700. The new price drop will see the Android tablet priced at less than £500.

Dixons is one example who have dropped the 16GB model down to £469 which also includes free delivery. [Read more…]

Nook Color Now Shipping

Barnes & Noble has announced it is now shipping the new Nook Color. The Nook Color was announced recently with pre-orders opening up on October 27. The original launch date was set at November 19 although it appears they are a little earlier than planned.

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world’s largest bookseller, began shipping its highly anticipated NOOKcolor by Barnes & Noble ahead of schedule to customers who pre-ordered devices. The first full-color touch Reader’s Tablet will begin arriving today and through the week to customers who pre-ordered the device online and reserved units in Barnes & Noble stores. Live demonstration units that will allow customers the opportunity to touch the future of reading, along with very limited quantities of devices available for purchase, will start arriving in Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Walmart and Books-A-Million stores beginning this week.

Galaxy Tab Official on AT&T – $50 More Than Others

AT&T has finally announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab on its network. AT&T has priced it higher than the rest of the competition at $649.99 although with that you do get $50 worth of Samsung Media Hub credit.

Contracts are priced at either $14.99/month or $25/month and each is a rolling 30 day contract offering either 250MB or 2GB of data respectively. [Read more…]

Dell Streak Android 2.2 Update Arriving November

Those of you in the UK with a Dell Streak will be glad to know that Dell has announced an OTA update for the device that will finally bring Android 2.2 to the tablet.

The update has been given an end of November release date. The following has been said about the update…

“DellStreak will begin a rollout of the 2.2 update OTA before the end of Nov. This is happening over a period of time and staggered by region, starting in the UK.You will receive notification of the update directly on your Streak. If you don’t see it before the end of Nov, please be patient as your build may be happening at a later stage.”

HP Slate in High Demand – Six Week Shipping Delays

The HP Slate was first announced at CES right at the beginning of this year. Since then its been canceled, changed to webOS, Android and back to Windows. Now that it has finally launched (in Windows form), we now hear that extraordinary demand has put a six week waiting delay for those who order it today.

Although it takes six weeks to get to you and HP has described it has being in extraordinary demand, its difficult at this time to know exactly what that means in terms of sales. Apple [AAPL] announced along the way how many iPads had sold with that tablet device quickly reaching 1 million. Samsung Galaxy Tab Gorilla Glass Tested

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is covered on the front with Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is extra strong glass that can take more of a beating than regular glass. Although the glass was invented as early as the 60’s, it has really only been used in technology for about the last 2 years.

The videos below show a couple of demonstrations as to how tough Gorilla Glass actually is. The owner of the tablet uses a CO2 powered gas gun and manages to fire 3 metal pellets (bb’s) at the screen. There were no scratches left after the test (thankfully). The second test then shows a regular glass being shot and smashed to pieces on the first shot. [Read more…]

JooJoo Tablet is Discontinued

The JooJoo has been discontinued although Fusion Garage, the company behind it, are still alive and pressing forwards.

Chandrashekar Rathakrishnan, founder of Fusion Garage, confirmed to e27 today that the tablet was being stopped. What they will be doing from now on is focusing on other tablets, perhaps a JooJoo 2 that will run Android rather than Linux. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab AT&T Prices Revealed

We just mentioned that Verizon is now selling the Galaxy Tab. We also hear today that AT&T will begin selling the Tab soon, perhaps on November 21 if the images above and below are to be believed.

Price wise, it looks like the Galaxy Tab on AT&T will be priced at $649.99 without a contract. The data plans look to be the same as those that are available for the iPad with the option of 250MB for $14.99/month or 2GB for $25/month. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Now at Verizon

Yesterday saw the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab on the T-Mobile network in the US. Today, its time for Verizon to launch the Galaxy Tab.

Price wise, the Galaxy Tab on Verizon is $599.99 although this is before tax and you’ll also need to consider getting a data plan to use the data connection which will add another monthly cost (as well as line activation fees). [Read more…]

RIM BlackBerry Playbook to Cost Less than $500

In a recent interview, RIM indicated that the new BlackBerry Playbook tablet would be priced at less than $500 when it launches in the US in the first quarter of 2011.

The 7 inch tablet was announced recently along with a rough launch date estimate although up till now, no prices have been known. We still are yet to get an exact price, but what was said is that it would be very competitively priced at below $500. [Read more…]
