Next Gen Augen Tablet Being Prepped

Augen is working on a next generation tablet ready for launch at CES 2011. Two new models will be built which will come with either a seven inch or a ten inch screen. The screens will be multitouch and capacitive on the larger model while the seven inch model will be resistive touch.

Little information is known about the tablets although price ranges vary from between $200 and $400 depending on which model and storage amounts you choose from. [Read more…]

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 at IFA

IFA 2010 has opened. At IFA, ViewSonic has the ViewPad 7 tablet on show. The ViewPad 7 is one of four possible tablet devices that are expected to launch this year.

The OS running on the ViewPad 7 is Android. The tablet will be called the OlivePad when it launches in India. The screen is described by Engadget as not that good although they say they have seen worse.

It runs a 600Mhz CPU and it works well with Android 2.2. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet Makes Appearance at FCC

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has appeared on the FCC website. The Galaxy Tab is a new Android tablet device that is being launched at IFA this week.

The FCC provides a few details of the device such as the model number which is the SHW-M180S with the description listed as being a “1900 GPRS Mini-Tablet with Bluetooth and WLAN,”.

Reports show that it has wireless which connects up to 802.11a/b/g/n networks along with Bluetooth and 1900 GPRS. No mention of CDMA is present though.

This particular version will not be compatible with Verizon [VZ] although that’s not to say a CDMA compatible version won’t be coming as we have already seen some evidence of this model in the last few days.

We’ll keep an eye on things and look out for the launch tomorrow when the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be unveiled at IFA.

Sony Reader eBook Devices Announced

Sony has launched three new Sony Reader devices which bring a number of new features to the table.

The first is the Sony Reader PRS-350 Pocket Edition. This particular model costs $179 and has a 5 inch screen. Next up is the Sony Reader PRS-650 Touch Edition that has a 6 inch screen which has a price tag of $229. Finally the Sony Reader PRS-950 Daily Edition is the 7 inch model that costs $299.

Price wise, they are quite expensive it seems, especially when comparing it to the Nook or Amazon Kindle that recently saw price drops. [Read more…]

Viewsonic Android Tablet Announced

Viewsonic has announced a new tablet called the ViewPad 7. The ViewPad 7 is an Android 2.2 based tablet that has a seven inch screen, two digital cameras as well as plenty of connectivity.

For connectivity, it has Wireless, Bluetooth and 3G built in. The cameras are 3 megapixels for the rear and 0.3 megapixels for the front.

For storage it takes a micro SD card. GPS is also built in. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet Hitting Verizon

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is heading to Verizon [VZ] in the US. The device is listed as featuring a CDMA radio which yesterday when spotted, suggested that it could land on Verizon or Sprint [S].

Since yesterday, details have leaked confirming that the Samsung Tablet would hit Verizon. The photo showing this comes thanks to BGR who received an image from a tipster that showed the Verizon inventory system. [Read more…]

Toshiba Folio 100 – Tegra 2 Based Android Tablet Coming Soon

Toshiba are launching a new tablet. Toshiba have called it a Smart Pad for reasons we don’t know of as it appears to have specs just like a tablet.

The name of it will be the Toshiba Folio 100 if rumours are to be believed although no release date is known at the moment.

Technical specs show that it runs Android 2.2, runs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 and has a 10.1 inch screen that has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. [Read more…]

Amazon Kindle in Sunlight Demonstration

The new Amazon Kindle has arrived and along with it, a new and clearer screen technology that provides a 50% better contrast than any other eReader on the market.

Crunch Gear put together a video showing a hands on with the Amazon Kindle to show how it looks in direct sunlight. According to Crunch Gear, the light was very bright and it didn’t effect reading at all on the device. [Read more…]

Smartbook Surfer Internet Tablet

The Surfer Tablet is heading to Germany soon from what we hear. It’s not a tablet we’ve heard of before although it sounds quite interesting.

The tablet runs Google Android 2.1, has a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and is powered by a 720MHz CPU along with 256MB of RAM.

Other features include 2GB of NAND Flash memory built in for storing data as well as the ability to complement that using a micro SD memory card. Details of the maximum sized card you can install have not been provided.

For connectivity it has Wireless 802.11b/g although there is no 3G support from what we can figure out. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Preview

It’s getting closer to the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, yet here we are again with another one captured on camera.

This time the Samsung Galaxy Tab was captured in Korea. It runs Android 2.2, has WCDMA 3G, 802.11n wireless networking and a screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10 that measures 7 inches.

Android Tablets on Orange FR Arriving Soon

Orange in France will be offering Android based tablets in the near future. The tablets will be self-branded and will be launched before Christmas this year.

Price wise, the Orange Tablets will be priced at ‚¬250 and are being built by an Asian OEM which could mean Acer or MSI for example. As they will be sold by a carrier it is also expected that each of them will have 3G built in. [Read more…]

Amazon Kindle Newest Gen is Fastest Selling Ever

Amazon is shipping the newest generation Amazon Kindle two days ahead of the previously announced release date. The information comes from a press release which also indicates that that latest Amazon Kindle is the fastest ever selling Kindle.

Amazon.com today announced that more new generation Kindles were ordered in the first four weeks of availability than in the same timeframe following any other Kindle launch, making the new Kindles the fastest-selling ever. In addition, in the four weeks since the introduction of the new Kindle and Kindle 3G, customers ordered more Kindles on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk combined than any other product, continuing Kindle’s over two-year run as the bestselling product across all the products sold on Amazon.com. The new Kindles started shipping to customers today–two days earlier than previously announced.
