Google Maps Gets Helicopter View for Directions

Google has added a new view to Google Maps. When planning a journey you now have the option to specify a helicopter view of your route. The reason behind the change is so that you can fly along your route before driving it to get a sense of where you are going and what you’ll see on the way.

New iOS Skype Update Brings New Features and Ads

A new Skype update has been released for iOS devices that brings a number of new features. On the plus side, yes there is a negative for some users, Skype has allowed Bluetooth Headset support as well as video stabilisation for calls. Facebook Account Now Required for Free Spotify Accounts (US)

Spotify launched in the US a few months ago. More recently the company opened up the free service as a free for all. A change has now been made which now requires new signups to go through Facebook to get an account. What this essentially means is that anyone now wanting a free Spotify account also requires a Facebook account so that the account can be opened up.

Google Drive Could be Launching Soon

We’ve heard of Google Drive a few times over the past few years. The service has been real in the past and was used internally, but due to problems and it not being ready, it never made it public. This could be changing soon.

GDrive is a service that is similar to Google Docs in that you can store documents and files within the cloud. What GDrive will do is make it more noticeable to all users that they can store more than just the documents they edit within the cloud.

Mobile Gmail Gets Multiple Sign-In Service

New Apple A6 and A7 Processors Could be Made by TSMC

At the moment, Apple gets iPhone and iPad processors from Samsung. This could be changing soon though to a company called TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). Reports earlier this year hinted at TSMC being used by Apple and it seems that a contract has now been signed.

Apple Could Soon Allow Multiple Apple IDs to be Merged

Apple has had a policy for a while now that basically says that you cannot merge multiple Apple IDs. This is becoming a problem as various change this year have caused problems with users needing to log in with each ID. Back in July TUAW said:

Some readers have been managing two Apple IDs on purpose and are now frustrated about the fact that Apple is restricting logins for automatic downloads. Others have only just discovered that they have two IDs. Most of them have already contacted Apple, only to be given the same answer without exception: Apple will not consolidate Apple ID accounts.
