Gmail Calling Rolling out to 150 Countries

A few months ago, Google rolled out Gmail calling which allowed those in the US to make calls direct from Gmail. The service is now expanding in to other countries which will mean that 150 more destinations will have the ability to call mobiles and landlines direct from their email accounts.

iCloud Pricing Revealed

When Apple announced iOS 5, they also announced a new service called iCloud. iCloud allows the iPhone and iPad to connect up seamlessly to the internet to store backups of your phone as well as documents, apps and music. The service will come with a free allowance of 5GB for each username. When Apple announced iCloud they also mentioned that for those going over the 5GB limit there would be an option of paying for more space. The prices have now been revealed.

Photo Booth Gets Updated with OS X Lion

Amongst the various (250+) updates that OS X Lion brings to the Mac, one of the apps that got updated was Photo Booth. This particular program makes use of your iSight camera and is capable of manipulating images in real time to make some interesting effects. Changes include the ability to use Photo Booth in full screen mode which adds a more graphically rich interface (such as curtains around the sides of the screen).

Qualcomm to Integrate Gesture Technology in to Snapdragon Chips

Qualcomm has announced that it has aquired various intellectual properties from the GestureTek company. GestureTek has been implementing gesture based technology for 25 years and by Qualcomm acquiring certain interlectual properties, it will allow them to add this technology to the Snapdragon line of processors which are generally used in many smartphones, tablets and other entertainment devices.

OS X Lion 10.7.2 To Bring iCloud to the Desktop

Apple launched OS X Lion last week to the world and we now see that they have begun seeding 10.7.2 to developers. The changes that 10.7.2 brings to OS X Lion is support for iCloud. Until now, only iOS developers have had access to iCloud on the iPad, iPod touch and the iPhone. With the release of this new Beta 5 of Lion, it gives developers the opportunity to test iCloud between mobile and desktop devices.

Microsoft Office 365 Launches

Microsoft has launched the full version of Office 365. Office 365 has been in beta since last year, but as of today it is now publicly available. Services start at $2/month and move up to $27/month depending on what you choose. Note that the basic service costs $6 which gives access to Office. Services include SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Lync Online as well as Microsoft Office.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking Gets Remote Mic App for iOS

Nuance has released a new version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and with that, a companion app that allows you to use an iOS device as a remote microphone for the software.

The new version of the software is 11.5 and along with being able to function with iOS used as an external mic, it also allows for you to update your facebook status with your voice.

iOS 5 Hints at Two iPad 3 and Two iPhone 5 Models

Although there’s not much we are too surprised about here, we still thought we’d mention that iOS 5 has indications that two iPad 3 models will be launching as well as 2 iPhone 5 models. The information comes from the SDK that shows references to iPad3,1 and iPad3,2 as well as iPhone4,1 and iPhone4,2. No mention of a new iPod touch is listed.

The reason the iPhone model numbers contain a four is that it’s the forth generation iPhone if you count the 3G still as first generation.

Appointment Slots Added to Google Calendar

Google Calendar gives users the ability to share calendars and schedule appointments in each others calendar. A new feature has been rolled out called Appointment Slots which allows a person to set up times that he is available in his calendar. A second user can then fill the appointment slots up as needed.

In the past, letting someone know your availability was done by email/phone/chat, but now you can easily put your availability in the calendar so that others can use it.
