Dell is launching a new version of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 in Europe. The new model is called the Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 and although similar to the previous version, it does include a few updates to set it apart from the older model.
The new version has a similar processor that runs at 1.66GHz. The previous model was the Intel Atom N450. This new model has an Intel Atom N455 which brings compatibility with DDR3 memory.
The touchpad has also received an update that brings separate left and right buttons rather than the integrated buttons on the previous model. Also the netbook is one colour rather than two.
The screen on the Dell 1018 measures 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Memory wise it has 1GB of RAM and for storage it has a 160GB hard drive.
The OS running on the 1018 netbook is Windows 7 Starter Edition. Price wise it will cost ‚¬279 when launched.
Dell provided an update to Liliputing that indicated the higher res 1366 x 768 pixels would not be available for the 1018. Also the Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator will not be either. Instead, users can opt for the Dell Mini 1012 if they want the higher res screen and accelerated graphics.
