New ‘Facebook’ features including profile downloading

An announcement by Facebook has been made regarding new surprising updates to it’s social network which, according to the developers, “gives more control over how they use their Facebook pages”.

For a while now facebookers have been crying out for changes to be made on how information and status updates are sent to groups and friends and wanting the ability to send messages to a just select group of people instead of everyone finding about your more embarrassing moments over the weekend.

Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg noted in a a recent blog post…

“We’ve long heard that people would find Facebook more useful if it were easier to connect with smaller groups of their friends instead of always sharing with everyone they know. For some it’s their immediate family and for others it’s their fantasy football league, but the common concern is always some variant of, ‘I’d share this thing, but I don’t want to bother 250 people. Or my grandmother. Or my boss’. We set out to build a solution that could help you map out all of your communities, that would be simple enough that everyone would use it and that would be deeply integrated across Facebook and applications so you can communicate with your different groups in lots of different ways.”

So now, information just for friends stays ‘just for your friends’ and your boss or grandparents won’t need to know.

Another major overhaul includes the option for the user to be able to download ALL their profile information, whether it be friends lists, photos, wall posts and emails, profile information and all your status updates all wrapped up in a neat little zip file.

Though in downloading such private and otherwise confidential information, the user will need to pass some stringent security walls such as security questions and passwords for example.

All this should be rolled out within the next day or so.
