Vodafone was about to become the first carrier to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the Nexus S in Australia although the process had to be stopped due to a problems found with the emergency call features on the device not meeting Australian regulations.
In a blog post over at Vodafone.com.au, Vodafone commented that Australia requires that mobile phone devices meet certain requirements related to emergency calls. In the testing phase Vodafone found that the new Android Jelly Bean 4.1 carrier update didn’t meet those particular requirements which means the update is now delayed.
When Vodafone manage to meet the requirements the roll out will follow this schedule for updates to devices:
Day 1-2: Available to 0.1% of phones
Day 3: Available to 5% of phones
Day 4: Available to 20% of phones
Day 5: Available to 60% of phones
Day 6: Available to 100% of phones
Follow the Vodafone blog linked above to be kept informed of when the Jelly Bean update will become available.
