Gateway have launched a new Intel Atom N450 netbook on to the market called the Gateway LT2118u. The Gateway netbook has a 1.66GHz intel atom N450 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory that runs at 667MHz and a 250GB SATA hard drive.
The screen on the Gateway netbook measures 10.1 inches and is in a WSVGA format and is backlit by LED. The screen can display 1024 x 600 pixels. An Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 runs the graphics on this netbook. For connectivity the netbook has 802.11b/g/n wireless. The battery is capable of providing over 10 hours of usage on a single charge. The OS running on it is Windows 7 Starter.
Other features on the netbook include a multi-gesture touchpad allowing 2 or more fingers to swipe across the touchpad to perform various options. A 0.3 megapixel webcam is integrated in to the bezel allowing video calls over Skype to be done. On the sides of the device you’ll find a memory card reader that can read SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro and xD memory cards. Three USB 2.0 ports are also found on the sides allowing a variety of gadgets to be connected up such as an iPhone or MP3 player. A VGA port is also provided allowing output to a projector or larger screen.
The Gateway netbooks run a new intel atom n450 processor making it run slightly quicker than older models as well as saving battery life that helps it achieve the 10+ hours of regular usage. It costs $349.99 and is available here.
