Update: The app has been pulled due to a bug in the notifications. When it’s fixed it will be back up. If you already have the app then you can carry on using it.
As rumoured yesterday, Google has finally released a Gmail app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
We’ve combined your favorite features from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app so you can be more productive on the go. It’s designed to be fast, efficient and take full advantage of the touchscreen and notification capabilities of your device. And it’s one more reason to switch to Gmail.
New features of the app include:
? Receive notification badges for new messages
? Read your mail with threaded conversations
? Organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting, and reporting spam
? Keep track of important messages with priority inbox
? Auto-complete contact names as you type
? Send and receive attachments
? Search through all your mail
As well as the above features, Google [GOOG] has also added the ability to refresh the inbox by pulling the screen down and letting go (pull to refresh). Also the side menu bar is easily accessible by swiping to the right to reveal and left to hide.
The app is available today (or if not already, will be available today) over on the App Store or via iTunes. For those who have been waiting a while for an official Gmail app, it finally made it. Lets hope it actually works as described.
