Google has released an update for Google Goggles on Android smartphones. The new version is 1.6 which is designed to enhance the camera on your Android smartphone.
The new enhancements allow Goggles to work in the background while you capture pictures. Google describes it as follows:
Let’s say that I’m going on vacation, and I decide to use my Android-powered phone as my primary camera. Goggles would identify landmarks, paintings and other interesting objects in my photos. I can share these facts about my vacation with my friends right from my Goggles search history.
The feature needs to be enabled within the settings menu. If not enabled then the camera acts just like a regular camera.
To run the new update you need to have an Android smartphone running at least version 2.1 of the operating system. If your phone qualifies then you can grab the download from the Android Market on your device or download it from here.
