Hitachi has created a new display that measures 4.5 inches and managed to pack in 1280 x 720 pixels. With the screen size and the amount of pixels on the screen, it has a slightly higher pixel density when compared to the Retina Display that Apple created for the iPhone 4.
The Retina display has a density of 326 pixels per inch while this new Hitachi model crams in 329 per inch.
As well as slightly beating the Retina display pixel density, Hitachi has also managed to beat the contrast ratio which is said to be 1100:1 compared to the Retina which is 800:1 on the latest model.
Production of the Hitachi display will start in October this year with the screen making it in to smartphones by 2012.
