Yesterday Apple [AAPL] announced that they will be holding an iPhone event on October 4th at the Cupertino Campus. Although the new iPhone will be announced at this event it is unlikely that it will launch for another 10 days after the event. We have heard today that Apple is likely to launch the new smartphone on October 14 with iOS 5 being launched a few days earlier on October 12.
October 14th is a Friday and we expect that Apple will release it either early evening or around 8am.
Apple could of course have a completely different release schedule, but it’s normal to wait 1 to 2 weeks after the announcement before the hardware is available. Unlike the iPad 2, we also hear that mail order should also be available for those who want it delivered to their door rather than standing in line for several hours.
We’ll get the exact details on October 4th and post them here at gadgetvenue.
