Apple [AAPL] has passed RIM in the US and now holds the top spot for smartphones by a fraction of a percent.
Reports indicate that the total smartphone share (compared to feature phone share) is at 29.7 percent. When the smartphone section is broken down (seen below in the graph), iOS is showing to have a 27.9 percent share. This is now slightly ahead of RIM that has 27.4 percent.
The numbers were calculated from Octobers details. The previous months details showed iOS at 28 percent and RIM at 30 percent.
As for Android in the whole picture, this OS takes 22.7 percent at the moment which is expected to overtake iOS within the next few months.
