ioSafe has announced a new series of rugged hard drive enclosures called the ioSafe SoloPRO. When we call the ioSafe rugged, we mean that it can withstand a fire, being dunked in water as well as a fair bit of physical abuse whilst still keep the data inside it completely safe.
Our ioSafe Solo review scored the external hard drive quite well. Since our review, which was just over a year ago, a new SSD model has arrived. This even new model (the SoloPRO) improves on the past models.
The drive is available in USB 3.0 as well as eSATA/USB 2.0 formats which allows for you to get the best option for your needs. If you have a newer PC that supports USB 3.0, then take advantage of the faster interface.
With the USB 3.0 version of the SoloPRO you can transfer data at 100MB/s or quicker which makes it 3 to 4 times faster than the USB 2.0 versions.
What this speed increase does is allows 1TB of data to take just 2 hours rather than 8 – 10 hours.
Capacities of the ioSafe SoloPRO include a 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB.
Price wise, the 1TB model costs $249.99 while the 1.5TB and 2TB models cost $319.99 and $419.99 respectively.
We expect that the ioSafe SoloPRO drives will be on sale soon online at places such as Amazon.
