Rumors about the iPad 2 continue to circulate as we get closer to Apple [AAPL] announcing the product. The next rumor indicates that Apple could have selected the same supplier that creates the iPhone 4 cameras to also create cameras for the Apple iPad 2.
Largan Precision has declined to comment on market rumors indicating the company will be the sole lens module supplier for Appleās upcoming iPad 2 tablet with shipments to kick off in the first quarter of 2011, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
If true of course, it isn’t clear at the moment how many cameras the iPad 2 will have. We pretty much know for sure that a front facing camera will be used as Apple is pushing FaceTime in a big way. As for a rear facing camera, we also believe that will happen.
The announcement of the iPad 2 is expected sometime in the first quarter of next year. We are not sure at this time if it will be as early as January like the original iPad or if it will be just a matter of weeks before the iPad 2 release date (rumored) of April 2011.
