A tweet made by pod2g today hints that an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak could be released as early as next week.
“I made a step today for the A5. With some luck we could expect a release in a week.”
What you also might notice in the screenshot above is the answer to a question about upgrading to iOS 5.0.1. The answer is yes that the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S will be capable of being jailbroke when running iOS 5.0.1. Note that iOS 5.1 is now in beta and Apple [AAPL] could release it any time now which is one reason to quickly update to 5.0.1 so that you have the latest jailbreakable iOS before 5.1 is released.
Just last week the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPad and previous models was released. It is unclear if the 4S and iPad 2 will be untethered, but chances are that they will.
