Prior to the launch of any popular gadget, rumours start going around about potential release dates. Last week, we heard a lot about September being the month, but now we are hearing that October will be the month that the iPhone 5 launches.
So far, we’ve heard early September, mid September and more recently the last week of September. The last week of September was believed to be the launch date as AT&T has blacked out the last 2 weeks to prevent employees taking time off. This usually happens at the time of a big product launch. However, this is not the case according to a source of AllThingsD who said:
“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,”
We expect to see a different design with the iPhone 5 (perhaps all generations from now on will get a new design), along with a 4 inch screen, 8 megapixel camera and a faster A5 processor from the iPad 2. We also hear that a dual GSM/CDMA chip could be found inside to prevent the need for a separate phone for Verizon/AT&T users.
What is unlikely to arrive in the iPhone 5 is RFID and the removal of the home button as previously mentioned.
