MuscleNerd has just launched RedSn0w 0.9.5 Beta that allows iPhone OS 4.0 to be jailbroke.
This is a beta release of redsn0w targeted at developers of jailbroken apps. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that we’ve been using since the 2.x days. Nothing new is revealed to Apple, and it’s not applicable to the iPad. Don’t go near it if you use yellowsn0w, ultrasn0w, or blacksn0w.
As warned above, this isn’t for regular users. First off, you need to be a developer to get iPhone OS 4.0 on your iPhone (the beta version as the public hasn’t been release yet), and also there isn’t much that can be done just yet as developers haven’t really created any apps for 4.0 that would work on it just yet.
Right now, RedSn0w 0.9.5 BETA only supports jailbreaking the iPhone 3G running iPhone OS 4.0. ie, not the 3GS or 1st gen iPhone (which won’t be getting OS 4.0 anyway).
Of course this is early days but it seems like some good work is being accomplished by MuscleNerd and we’ll probably hear more from him soon.
